EON Reality VR Innovation Academy (VRIA) Omaha

Exciting Workforce Development Opportunity
on the UNMC Campus Begins June 4, 2018
|
The AR/VR industry is among the fastest growing sectors of the economy, creating an increased need for skilled professionals, including designers and developers.
The EON Reality VR Innovation Academy Omaha (VRIA) was created in response to this need, providing an exceptional opportunity for candidates interested in learning how to work in the exciting field of AR/VR.
Housed on the UNMC campus in Omaha, the EON Reality VRIA will consist of 16 weeks of theoretical and practical training, and 33 weeks of project-based learning. Upon successful completion, students will receive an EON Reality AR/VR Developer Certification.

An Open House will take place in the iEXCEL Visualization Hub on February 27, 2018 from 5:00-7:00pm CST. All interested in learning more about applying to the Academy are welcome - RSVP is requested. An additional Open House will also take place on March 29, 2018 from 5:00-7:00pm CST.

NM&SC
was established to serve as an organization dedicated to the promotion of modeling & simulation (M&S) with a strategic initiative of fostering and expanding strategic alliances and collaborations to promote M&S as a professional practice, a recognized technical discipline and as an industry.
By raising public awareness, NM&SC strives to provide a central channel of communication in order to expedite and improve the national consideration of the many policies, regulations, problems, opportunities and questions of broad application involved in the modeling and simulation enterprise.
The focus of this year’s NM&SC annual meeting will address
Modeling, Simulation & Visualization: Improving Human Performance & Effectiveness,
with a concentration on M&S technologies and practices having significant impact on health care provider education, training and certification.

Introducing
Brian Monaghan & Jeremiah Wilt
|
|
Brian Monaghan is the new Manager of Advanced Simulation Operations for iEXCEL. He will continue to serve as the Interim Program Manager for Simulation in Motion - Nebraska (SIM-NE) further integrating SIM-NE with the growing offerings of iEXCEL.
Brian has worked in emergency medical services (EMS) since 1990 and has been licensed as a paramedic and an EMS-Instructor since 1993. His field experience includes volunteer and career roles in rural, urban and hospital settings. His work has also had a strong focus on education and has served as the program chair/director of EMS education at a community college.
Prior to coming to UNMC, Brian was the Education and Training Manager for the Nebraska EMS office. Brian holds an Associate of Applied Science in EMS, an Associate of Arts, a Bachelor of Science in Adult Education and a Master of Public Administration.

Jeremiah is the Computer Programming Visualization Specialist for iEXCEL. Former iEXCEL student intern, he will join the talented iEXCEL Visualization Team and support content development for various visualization tools and platforms.
As a 3D Programmer, he supported various projects for professors at the Applied Innovations Lab at the University of Nebraska Omaha. Jeremiah has a bachelor's degree in IT Innovation from the University of Nebraska Omaha.

iEXCEL Activities at a Glance
|
|
On February 7-8, MedaPhor provided technology demonstrations for students, faculty and staff of UNMC and Nebraska Medicine. Attendees were asked to evaluate this technology, as they help iEXCEL select new technologies for the Davis Global Center.
This event included demonstrations of MedaPhor’s BodyWorks Eve, a full body echo simulator with Point of Care Ultrasound modules, and ORSIM Portable Bronchoscopy Simulator, designed to improve bronchoscope dexterity through hands-on training.

VisualDx is now available on the iWall in the iEXCEL Visualization Hub! This is an application designed for practicing diagnostic accuracy, patient engagement and medical education available to UNMC and Nebraska Medicine and funded by the Department of Family Medicine. Contact
