Sunday School and Youth Group

We are following the Way of Love readings at Chapel and in our Sunday School classes so that families may talk about Sunday's scripture readings throughout the week. Our focus will be on how we gather for worship and experience Jesus' presence in Holy Communion, as we hear about the disciples recognizing Jesus in the breaking of the bread.

Sunday School:
We are following the Way of Love readings at Chapel and in our Sunday School classes so that families may talk about Sunday's scripture readings throughout the week.

At 10am:
  • Chapel in the Undercroft (ages 3 through Gr. 5) We will hear the Gospel reading about the disciples recognizing Jesus in the breaking of the bread.
Following the 10am service:
  • Godly Play (Pre-K and K): Andrea Dorf and our youngest students will "story with God" about The Good Shepherd and the World Communion. They will wonder about following Jesus to the Lord's Table and sharing in the bread-blessed and broken.
  • Living the Good News(Gr. 1-3)Stephanie Feller will lead students in dramatizing the Emmaus revelation and students may have the time to create their own images of Jesus.
  • Living the Good News (Gr. 4-5): Liz Quinn will lead students in a discussion of this important Easter Gospel, reflecting on how one way we experience the Risen Lord is by coming together in worship, especially in sharing Holy Communion. A visit to the Sanctuary and the sacristy is planned, time permitting!
Youth Group:
Middle and high school youth are invited to join Madi and Kitty in the loft for youth group today. We continue our study of superheroes with Madi's personal favorite - Captain America! Come out for snacks and great conversation! Questions? Contact Madi at youthminister@ccpk.org

The Outreach Committee invites you to a night of sheer fun for all ages - dinner and dancing with a Kenyan flair, a craft boutique, children's crafts, raffles and more!  Nyumbani is an orphanage in Kenya that supports children and caregivers infected and affected by HIV/AIDS. Funds raised will be used to build a new greenhouse to grow fresh vegetables for the children and caregivers. Donations of wool yarn and razor scooters in good condition would be joyously accepted.

Christ Church Women (CCW) Meeting Next Sunday
at 11:15am in the Library/Parlor

Please join the Christ Church Women (CCW) Sunday, October 21, 2018 after the 10:00 AM service for our monthly meeting and to make lovely Anglican Prayer Beads.  Pam Prindle will lead the demonstration in making the prayer beads and each person will create their own to take home to use for prayer and meditation.  Anglican Prayer Beads can deepen and transform prayer into a richer spiritual experience.

We will meet in the Library/Parlor for the prayer bead making, fellowship and enjoying brunch.  Please bring your favorite brunch item to share.  RSVP to Aime Keith at aimekeith1966@gmail.com or 202-230-6160 so we will know how many supplies are needed.  We have ample supplies for creating the prayer beads so this event is free!

Dehumidifier Needed!

Do you have an extra dehumidifier at home that you no longer need?
If so, please consider donating it to Christ Church, as we need one for the Gathering Room in the Education Wing. Please contact Peter Hanke (administrator@CCPK.org) for more details!

Please join us:
Way of Love Discussion Time during Coffee Hour!
This week we focus on the 4th of the seven practices for a Jesus-centered life: "Worship - the practice of gathering in community weekly to thank, praise and dwell with God."  As we break bread, our eyes are opened to God's presence among us. By the Spirit's power, we are made one body - sent forth to live the Way of Love.

Come downstairs after the 10:00 service for coffee and conversation about your worship experiences. What is the most meaningful part of the service to you? What confuses, inspires, challenges or restores you?
