Summer 2020
Committed to Transplant
Our mission at the Weill Cornell Medicine and NewYork-Presbyterian Kidney and Pancreas Transplant Program is to maximize opportunities for transplantation for all patients who seek our care and expertise. We are committed to delivering life-enhancing transplant services with compassion for each patient. Our patients health and safety has and always will be our first priority.

During this challenging period we have been transplanting actively and safely with outstanding outcomes. We want our transplant community to know we are here for them.

Due to new social distancing standards, we have made a couple of changes:
  • Video Visits with our Providers
  • Flexible and convenient access to health care from the comfort of your home.
  • New and Spacious Clinic Space
  • We are seeing select patients at The David H. Koch Center 9th floor by appointment only in order to abide by social distancing regulations.
  • COVID-Safe Operating Rooms and Transplant Unit
  • When you come in for your transplant, and as you recover, you can feel safe and secure as rigorous cleaning and safety measures are in place.
My Kidney Transplant Journey During COVID-19
"My experience getting transplanted at the
NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell has been great. During the Covid-19 pandemic, the staff at the hospital took many precautions to make sure that the surgery went safe and smoothly. I felt very safe knowing that I was in good hands and the nurses and doctors made me feel at home. After my surgery, I am feeling great and it wasn’t a painful procedure as I had imagined. I was able to get on my feet and start walking the day after my surgery. My follow up in the DHK clinic has been excellent. It is a very clean and comfortable environment and the entire staff is really sweet. Every time I go for a follow up, the staff recognizes me right away even with my mask on and I am able to get done quickly with the appointments. I am feeling great and I thank everyone including my surgeon Dr. Kapur for giving me a new life."

My Kidney Transplant Journey During COVID-19
"Our original surgery date was April 9th, but was suspended due to COVID-19. I was so excited when we were scheduled for a new surgery date, June 3rd. While I was apprehensive about having surgery during COVID-19, the NYP/WC team assured me that they are doing everything possible to keep the patients and the staff safe. Prior to surgery, both Annie and I were tested twice for COVID-19 which was very reassuring. I was even tested again the day I was discharged from the hospital. My hospital room door had signage prohibiting entry without a mask. The doctors, nurses, and staff always made me feel safe by wearing a mask and constantly changing gloves. Post-transplant, I see my team at the DHK building for follow up visits. The DHK building is a phenomenal update to the NYP transplant process. The DHK building is spacious and clean; the staff ensures that everyone who enters has an appointment, and temperature check. I feel incredibly safe and comfortable when I go to DHK twice a week for my post-transplant appointments."
