Words of Wisdom
At the August Council Executive Board meeting, our board passed a motion to provide increased insurance for our Scouts and Leaders.  It was viewed that our youth and volunteer leaders need to be covered by more insurance.  Our council can relieve the burden from our unit leadership in finding its own coverage by providing it for you at a group rate.  HSR Health Special Risk Inc. is the premier provider for additional accident and sickness insurance.  If your Troop were to purchase insurance on its own it would be at a cost of $3.59 per person.

The Council is also participating in the BSA General Liability Insurance Program through the National BSA at a cost of $3.39 per registered member.

To help offset these costs and ensure we can continue to provide these insurances going forward the council will be charging an additional $3.00 per member for registration beginning January 1, 2019.  When your unit recharters you will see that cost reflected in the online forms.

We believe this nominal additional registration fee increases the protection of our Scouts and Leaders.

Yours in Scouting

John C. Fenoglio
