BHA NEWS/EVENTS
Got Furniture to Donate?

In response to requests from several property owners, BHA is considering organizing a pick up service for Habitat for Humanity's Restore to come to the Island in late March or early April to receive donated appliances/furniture and take them via the barge to the Restore in Southport.

The Restore is always in need of these types of items and is willing to come to the Island to pick them up at no cost. If enough property owners are interested in donating gently used appliances or furniture, BHA staff will organize the logistics.

CLICK HERE to read about the types of items the Restore can accept.

Please send an email to Julie Starcher ( [email protected]) to let her know your interest and indicate what items you're considering donating.

COMMUNITY NEWS/EVENTS
Environmental Task Force
Seeking Members

At its retreat in February, the Village Council approved the formation of an Environmental Task Force, a group similar to a formal Village committee but without the strict legislated meeting notification and reporting requirements.  The broad formal goal is t o consider Bald Head Island's vegetative and manmade waste to reduce the island's waste stream.

If you are interested in promoting more eco- friendly practices, improved recycling and/or sharing your ideas for putting greater emphasis on Living in Harmony with Nature, please submit a volunteer application that can be found at the Village website, villagebhi.org, or at Village Hall.

Once the Task Force in is place, a formal contact will be provided for sharing ideas, pictures, and practices from other communities whose methods may be transferrable to our island paradise.  The deadline for applications for the Environmental Task Force is  March 12th.

The Chapel asks for your old bikes, bicycle parts, bike accessories and used computer equipment and printers. All of these items will be delivered to North Carolina's "Bicycle Man," an organization that enhances the lives of the less fortunate by refurbishing used bicycles and computer equipment and distributes these recycled items to about 1,500 children every Christmas.  For questions and donations, contact Gayle Sanders at 910-477-2346 and [email protected] or Anne Rex at 910-899-7918 and [email protected] .
