PAVING FOR PROGRESS
Memorial Drive SE

Construction Update: 10-12-18

We wanted to provide you with an update on the projects currently underway on Memorial Drive. Unfortunately, several unforeseen circumstances have contributed to the projects' timelines, including unplanned utility conflicts, an unseasonably cold spring, and several months' worth of excessive rain. All the work on Memorial Drive will be completed next spring instead of this fall. Much of the remainder of the work will include getting ready for winter and making sure driveways and temporary pavement is complete so roads can be open over the winter months. At this time, we do not have specific start dates for the spring (it will be weather-dependent), but we will continue to send residents updates on the timelines. We thank you for your patience as we work to complete as much as possible before winter begins. Below is additional information.

Update Between McCarthy Road and Mount Vernon Road
Crews continue to make progress on utility updates and pavement rehabilitation.  Over the next few weeks, expect to see curb and gutter placement between McCarthy Rd and Seely Ave.  Contractors will be coordinating directly with property owners to make sure vehicles do not get "trapped" in driveways during curb and gutter placement.  Crews will also be transferring water services to the new water main between Seely Ave and 14th Ave over the next few weeks.  Property owners should expect to see door hanger notifications from the Water Department that will provide more specific timeframes. The asphalt overlay between McCarthy Rd to Mt Vernon Rd will now occur next April or May due to abnormally wet weather we've experienced the last several weeks. Temporary asphalt will be placed along the new curb and gutter so residents can get in and out of their driveways for the winter.  We recognize that this neighborhood has also had to content with road closures related to high river levels, and we appreciate your patience.

Update Between Bever Avenue and Mount Vernon Road
Contractors plan to complete sidewalks, driveways, and sod between Bever Ave and Buchanan Dr yet this fall. They will also install temporary pavement for the road to be open over the winter months - connecting the new pavement to the old pavement just south of Meadowbrook Dr. The remainder of the work taking place between Bever Ave and Mt Vernon Rd will focus on preparing for the winter season.
