SN-ICC Membership Year Ends Today; Please Renew for 2019

The Chapter's membership year ends at midnight, Monday, December 31. The 2019 membership year begins on January 1.

The Chapter thanks our many members who have already renewed their membership for 2019. If you joined the Chapter on October 1 or thereafter, you don't have to renew your membership; you are already a member for 2019.

If you need an invoice to renew your membership, please contact SN-ICC Executive Director Monica Caruso at [email protected] and she will supply you with an invoice.

Annual dues are $50 for Government and Industry Associate Members; $10 for Student Members who are enrolled in an accredited educational institution; and $0 for Retired and Honorary Members.

Committees include Code Development, Education, EduCode Public Outreach, Communications and Membership.

SN-ICC MEMBERS DONATE TO TOYS FOR TOTS  
 
The Chapter thanks our members who generously supported the Marine Toys For Tots toy drive to benefit children in our community.
 
Members donated more than 50 new, unwrapped toys, plus $560 in cash and checks, at the December Chapter Meeting.  
 
The toys were dropped off after the meeting at Gaudin Ford, one of the Marine Toys for Tots drop-off locations. Checks were mailed to the local Marine Toys For Tots campaign office.

Sam Palmer delivered a PowerPoint presentation at the December Chapter Meeting to review the Chapter's events, activities and accomplishments this year.  
 
PRESIDENT PRESENTS YEAR-END REPORT  
     
The Chapter's many events, activities and accomplishments were the subject of the December Chapter Meeting.  
 
President Sam Palmer delivered a 35-slide PowerPoint presentation that highlighted the areas of education, the EduCode conference and expo, public outreach, special events, monthly Chapter Meetings, communications, membership, code development and the ICC ABM.  
 
Palmer thanked the members for their support this year and urged them to stay involved in 2019, especially with the EduCode conference and expo in March and the ICC ABM coming to the Rio Hotel Conference Center in October.

Angel Park Golf Club on Rampart Boulevard 
   
RSVP FOR INSTALLATION, AWARDS BANQUET

Please don't delay registering to attend the Chapter's Installation and Awards Banquet scheduled for the evening of Saturday, January 26 at the Angel Park Golf Club on Rampart Boulevard, south of the Summerlin Parkway.
 
Seating is limited to 130 persons and we anticipate the seats will sell out by early to mid-January, so please RSVP now if you haven't already registered.

The College of Southern Nevada will offer 11 classes on codes and related construction topics, beginning on January 22.

SN-ICC PARTICIPATES IN IAPMO TRADE SHOW  
 
The Chapter was pleased to participate in the recent annual trade show of the Southern Nevada Chapter of the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials.  
 
The SN-ICC table was staffed by EduCode Director Al Ellis, 1st Vice President Terry Kozlowski of the City of North Las Vegas and Executive Director Monica Caruso. The table included information about the EduCode conference and expo in March and SN-ICC membership.

2019 EDUCODE SALES WELL UNDER WAY 
 
Registration and booth sales for the 2019 EduCode International conference and expo are well under way.    
 
Educode 2019 is scheduled for March 11-15 at the Orleans Hotel and Casino Conference Center.
 
Participants can register online or by mailing a completed Registration Form available at the educode.us website.
 
Register by February 4 for the best pricing and course selection. Also, a discounted group rate for rooms at the Orleans Hotel and Casino will be offered until February 6.

HOLIDAY SPIRIT FILLS CODE DEPARTMENTS

The City of Henderson's Building and Fire Safety Division captured attention with this creative display of ginger bread houses, one of which featured numerous "code violations." 
 
Henderson's "Inspector Scrooge" found numerous code violations at the dilapidated ginger bread house on display.

MEMBER NEWS 

The Chapter's members have elected Arben Dema to serve as 2nd vice president on the board of directors in 2019. That puts Dema in the line of succession to serve as Chapter president in 2021. Dema is assistant manager of inspection services for the City of Henderson's Building and Fire Safety Division. He is an active Chapter member and has volunteered his services at the EduCode conferences and the Installation and Awards Banquets.  
 
Allen Becker, a combination plans examiner for the City of Henderson's Building and Fire Safety Division, has been elected a district director on the 2019 board of directors of the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials. Becker is a past president and board member of the Southern Nevada Chapter of IAPMO.
