Hello! My name is Kelly Huston and I am the Supervisor in Registry Service. I am your primary contact for Imports/Exports and Arabian Racing, but can help you with any of your questions pertaining to all types of registration, transfer and membership. I have been with AHA for 16 years, all of them working in Registry Services
.
I am the mother of two, and grandmother of five wonderful grandchildren. I have owned purebred and Half-Arabians, but currently keep my four legged friends a bit smaller. I have fallen in love with the boxer breed and support Ho-Bo Boxer Rescue here in Colorado as well as Lifeline Puppy Rescue for my other breed of choice. As a teen I loved participating in the local Gymkhanas with my Mor-Ab. Although he was a bit hefty for barrel racing and pole bending I loved it anyway. Having lived through teenage years with horses I truly believe that the experience is something that I would wish for any young adult, and feel blessed that my girls also got to live through this bonding experience.
I have enjoyed many years of traveling to the AHA shows where I have gotten to know many of our members. For me, visiting the barns and meeting all of you is the high point of each show. I enjoy guiding our members through the registration process and to help you to work through your registration questions.

AHA Registry Staff Available Early at the 52nd Annual U.S. National Arabian Horse Show
AHA Registry Services is available to provide services at the 2018 US Nationals Horse Show beginning Tuesday October 16th for your convenience! Registry Services will be available in the Show Office until the start of the show on Friday. Then, visit the AHA booth located in the south entrance to the Exchange Center. Members-bring your questions or your work to the show.
AHA is there to help you:
- Register or transfer your horse
- Submit your in-utero nominations to the Sweepstakes Program, Halter Futurities etc.
- Purchase or renew your AHA membership - BE ENTERED TO WIN A FREE GIFT (while supplies last)
- Look up pedigree, progeny and ownership information on DATASOURCE-get a FREE printout of the pedigree of a registered Arabian, Half-Arabian or Anglo-Arabian
- View/print the accomplishment record of any registered Arabian, Half-Arabian or Anglo-Arabian
- Get assistance with your pending transactions - bring your work to the show! We can also accept your Stallion Reports that are due by the end of December.
- Choose from a wide variety of blank forms for registration and enrollment to our many programs

Hydration 101
Transitional seasons can be tricky when it comes to managing horses; not the least of which is monitoring water consumption of your horse to avoid dehydration and its associated complications.

Now is the Time to Become a Certified Horsemanship Association Equine Professional
While the end of the year is fast-approaching, the Certified Horsemanship Association's (CHA) clinic schedule is still full of opportunities for members and others to attend a CHA Certification Clinic and become a CHA Certified Equine Professional. CHA is the largest certifying organization in North America, and current clinic opportunities are offered in Alberta, Canada, and eight U.S. states- Alabama, California, Iowa, Kentucky, Minnesota, Tennessee, Texas, and Washington State. Most clinics take place in the spring, and at this time there will be CHA clinics in most states and provinces.
The All Discipline Standard Instructor Certification means instructors can be certified in English and/or Western disciplines and both. These multi-day 40 hour clinics are held at CHA program member sites that have been approved as host sites within North America. Each clinic has workshops and hands-on demonstration lessons for attendees to show off their knowledge.
Attendees are tested by two CHA Clinic Instructors for proficiency in five areas: safety, horsemanship knowledge and ability, teaching techniques, group control, and professionalism. Attendees must pass written tests and have their lessons evaluated to receive CHA Certification.
Level 1 allows instructors to teach beginners at the walk and trot/jog. Level 2 allows instructors to teach up to the canter/lope, along with pre-jumping exercises, western patterns, and trail riding. Level 3 instructors can teach basic jumping and more advanced horsemanship maneuvers such as simple lead changes, along with more horsemanship theory and horse care. Level 4 instructors can teach jumping, dressage, reining, and other performance events, advanced horse management and horsemanship theory. CHA Master Instructors have been certified to teach both English and Western at Level 4.
There are currently two Standard Instructor Certification Clinics in Alberta available in November 2018 and April 2019. In the United States, this certification clinic is available in Alabama in September 2018, California in April 2019, Iowa in October 2018, Minnesota in May 2019, in Tennessee in November 2018 and May 2019, and Washington State in October 2018.
The Equine Facility Manager Certification is a 20 hour clinic for attendees to showcase their knowledge in equine facility management. Attendees can advance through the levels (Stable Worker, Stable Manager, and Herd Manager), on up to Level 4 (Equine Facility Manager) within one clinic if they can demonstrate competency in all four levels.
There are Equine Facility Manager Certification Clinics currently scheduled in California in February 2019, Kentucky in December 2018, and Texas in October 2018.

Quick Sand AA Continues Dominant Winning Streak in the $100,000 President of the UAE Cup at Historic Churchill Downs

References to "superstar" and "legend in the making" could be heard around Churchill Downs after Quick Sand AA (Burning Sand x Triumphs Silkie), bred and owned by Joe & Betty Gillis of Columbus, Mississippi, extended his undefeated 2018 season with a dominant 9-length win in the 2018 President of the UAE Cup Stake (G1) on Saturday evening, September 29th under the bright lights of the historic twin spires.
The handsome 5-year-old grey stallion, now boasting lifetime earnings of $260,231, chased the pace early behind Madjikman and Easter Man, allowing Thess is Awesome and Uptown Sandy Girl (the lone filly of the field) to set the pace in front. It all changed as they rounded the second turn when Thess is Awesome dropped back and Quick Sand challenged Uptown Sandy Girl and began pulling away at the top of the stretch. By the final furlong, the race belonged to Quick Sand AA as he took the $100,000 President of the UAE Cup in extraordinary, breathtaking fashion with a final time of 1:54.65 going 1 1/16 miles.
