Maximizing the academic, social, and emotional potential of each student.

Dear Friend of CCSD93,
Imagination & Curiosity Sparked During Explorers Week!
This week was Explorers Week in CCSD93, and students at all schools learned about famous explorers or did their own exploring! While terrific hands on learning opportunities abounded, here are a few highlights from the week!

Cloverdale students collaborated, designed, and created while working through areas and stations in the school's Innovation Center that enabled them to explore natural science, history, and more. Here's a Cloverdale student using interactive augmented reality to explore the human brain!

Western Trails students took on projects related to the Lewis & Clark Expedition that tied elements of history with engineering and design, while others took expeditions themselves. Here are students in Mrs. Miller's class exploring Yosemite National Park through virtual reality.

Early Childhood Center students explored the great outdoors, walking the school's gardens to catalogue what the plants look like in the fall. This photo was taken by a four-year-old preschooler.

This is just a small sampling of the terrific teaching at learning that occurred at all of our schools. I thank our dedicated educators for leading our students on these explorations. It won't stop here. Our goal is to continuously inspire this level of curiosity and creativity within our students the whole year round while providing a relevant education for all and maximizing their academic, social, and emotional potential.
Free Parent Presentation on the Teenage Brain 10/17
Glenbard Parent Series is a nationally renowned parent education series. They host free events throughout the community that bring in well known speakers to provide helpful tips and guidance to interested parents. Next Wednesday, they'll host a workshop on the teenage brain, and they have a number of additional workshops happening all the time. View the image above for details or visit http://www.glenbardgps.org/ for even more. Don't worry that it has Glenbard in the title; all CCSD93 parents are invited!
Nominate a CCSD93 Principal for a Golden Apple Leadership Award!
CCSD93 is proud of our effective, passionate educators who provide a relevant education to each CCSD93 student and challenge them to grow, learn, and succeed to the best of their abilities each day.

Though their daily efforts often go unheralded, the Golden Apple Awards are a terrific way to publicly recognize great teachers. Unfortunately for CCSD93, this year Golden Apple is only accepting nominations for high school teachers. However, they are accepting nominations of principals for the Stanley C. Golder Leadership Award from every level of education. If you feel strongly about one of CCSD93's outstanding principals and would like to celebrate their dedication to their school, students, and staff, I invite you to nominate them for the for the Stanley C. Golder Leadership Award here!

Winners will be recognized on PBS, win a scholarship for professional development, and receive funds to use on a school project.
CCSD93 Student/Parent/Teacher Conference
Sign-Up Now Through 11/16
This year across CCSD93, Student/Parent/Teacher Conferences will incorporate the student voice to become Student/Parent/Teacher Conferences, which students are expected to attend with their parents. In the coming weeks, more info will be sent from your child's school on exactly what the new conference format will look like.

CCSD93 Student/Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held Monday and Tuesday, November 19 and 20. This is a great opportunity for parents to connect with their child and their child's teacher about their child's education!

CCSD93's schools will once again offer online scheduling of Student/Parent/Teacher Conferences through PTC Wizard. All parents will need to register a new account this year, even if you had one for last school year. You can sign up for conferences anytime between now and Friday, November 16 at noon.

Visit www.ccsd93.com/PTC for more details.
