MP Profile

Meet Coach McElhaney & Mrs. Coach McElhaney. They have been married for 5 years, and have a 2 year old son named Landon.  Coach McElhaney is in his 6th year of teaching P.E. at Mary Persons, and this is Mrs. Mac's 5th year of teaching Health and P.E. to 9th graders.  She coaches track and cross country, and he coaches football and basketball this year. When asked what they like most about their job, Coach Mac says "no two days are alike!", and Mrs. Mac likes "building relationships with my students." Her hobbies include sleeping, coaching, and traveling.  He enjoys spending time with family and friends. If Mrs. Mac could go back in time, she would like to travel to the year 2000, "because you don't have 'real' responsibilities in high school." Coach Mac would go back to his senior year of high school. He said "Knowing what I know now, things would be different." If he didn't have to sleep, he would use the extra time to relax from a long hard day at work. When people go to them for help, they usually go to her for "advice on making better decisions," and to him for "advice about life".  Mrs. Mac said that her mother has influenced her life the most because "she has always inspired and encouraged me. She supports me." Coach Mac said that the male figures in his life  (dad, step-father, and grandfather) have had a big influence on his life. He said "I know what a father should look like." Coach Mac wanted to add that "Life is hard and often times there are no directions so I always say 'find a way or make a way.'"

Economics Students Learn to Budget

Mrs. Peacocks 4th period Economic class is learning how to
manage  their money. During this month's bill day students save their
money  to pay rent, maintenance, insurance, and invest in stocks and
bonds.  Students earn their income by having a classroom job, or
working well  throughout the month to earn extra money.
Abigail Hightower saved up her money to buy her desk, so she no longer
has to pay rent  for the rest of the year.

More students worked hard to earn enough money to buy their own desks!!!

Mrs. Peacock's Economics classes had their first classroom auction recently. Students earned their money from doing various jobs throughout the class
and saved up to buy donated items. Some of the donated items included chips, gift cards, a song by Gabe Medlin, and other various items. 10% of the total revenue from the auction went back to those students who donated an item. Pictured above are  some students showing off items they purchased
with their class money.

Aleah Davis (top left) was the very first student overall to pay her desk off
in Mr. Simmons' & Mrs. Fields' Economics class! Congratulations Aleah!
