School Bus Safety Week is October 21st through the 27th
Motorists must learn the importance of stopping for school buses that are loading and unloading for the safety of our students.

Please review Pennsylvania's School Bus Stopping Law.

Motorists must stop for the following:

  • When a stopped school bus has red signal lights flashing and the stop arm extended
  • When a school bus is stopped at an intersection and has red signal lights flashing and the stop arm extended

Do not move until the red lights have stopped flashing, the stop arm has been removed, and you see that all children have reached a place of safety.

If you are convicted of violating Pennsylvania's School Bus Stopping Law, you will receive a 60-Day Driver's License Suspension, Five points on your driving record, and a fine.

Annually, more than 700 drivers are convicted for passing a stopped school bus with its red lights flashing.

Please visit PennDOT's website for more information on the law.
