The Mountains of Indigenous New Hampshire
An exhibit devoted to indigenous peoples’ relationship with the mountains of New Hampshire is on display at the University of New Hampshire’s Dimond Library until the end of January. The exhibit celebrates United Nations International Mountain Day with the theme “Mountains Matter to Indigenous Peoples.”

Under the tutelage of Prof. Svetlana Peshkova, UNH anthropology department student interns Erik Swenson and Marianna Conserva worked directly with members of the Pennacook Abenaki People to mount the collaborative exhibit, which aims to increase awareness about native peoples’ perspective on the landscape of the Granite State. The exhibit includes photographs of the five mountains that were studied, 3-D printed models of each mountain, and brief write-ups about the research.

The exhibit is on the third floor of Dimond Library, inside the main entrance. Look for the tall exhibit case opposite the elevator and the shelf opposite the circulation desk. Learn more .
2019 Evening Sleigh Rides
Beginning Jan. 4, Coppal House Farm in Lee will offer Friday night sleigh rides. The rides are a fun way to experience a New England winter evening like never before! And don’t worry if there isn’t enough snow, a wagon will be substituted for the sleigh.

The horses will transport riders through snow-covered fields and along glistening forest trails. Upon returning, guests are invited to gather around the bonfire for a hot cup of cocoa, s'mores, and comradery.
The half-hour rides start at 5:30, 6:15, and 7:00 p.m. Tickets cost $15 per person for ages 3 and up.

The farm is now booking rides for Jan. 4, 11, and 18 (bad weather date Jan. 25), and will begin taking reservations on Jan. 7 for rides on Feb. 1, 8, and 15 (bad weather date Feb. 22).
