Friends,

Our students have just completed their first quarter of classes! We are grateful for their hard work and dedication over the past few months. These early days represent the foundation of the scholarship and formation we seek to do throughout this coming year.

As fall sports wind down, and we prepare for a festive season of holidays and celebrations, we urge our young men to pause and reflect on their first months this year. Where have they excelled? Where do they need work? Where is God calling them?

The answers will vary for all of our students. Some may seek out a teacher for extra help, strike up a new co-curricular, or even sign up for a service retreat that will take them far out of their comfort zone. The most important thing is that we ensure we are always calling our boys to be open to growth. Just as this first quarter lays the foundation for the rest of the year, their time at BC High is the bedrock for the rest of their lives. We are utterly committed to helping them succeed in seeking the magis wherever it may take them.

I hope to see you at an upcoming event this month, whether our annual Hall of Fame Induction or the Dever Players' production of Catch Me if You Can. On behalf of the entire BC High community, I hope you accept our warmest wishes for a wonderful Thanksgiving.
AMDG,

Grace Regan P'12
Finding Future Eagles
Our Enrollment team has been busy finding the next generation of outstanding Eagles! From Admissions Fairs, to Community Receptions, Information Nights, and our successful Open Houses - hundreds of families have had the opportunity to learn more about the BC High experience.

If anyone you know is interested, but hasn't been able to attend, don't worry! There are additional Info Nights for grades 9-12 on November 19 and grades 7-8 on December 11. We're also hosting many Community Receptions in towns throughout Massachusetts allowing prospective families to hear from BC High faculty, staff, students, parents, and alumni in their community. Visit this link or contact the Enrollment Office for more information.

We are strongly encouraging any student interested in BC High to sign up for the Eagle for a Day program. Many of our alumni mark their Eagle for a Day experience as the defining moment in their decision process, and we invite you to share the video below with anyone who might be considering it.
Chamber Choir Honors our Veterans
Service is at the core of our mission as a Jesuit school - so it is no coincidence that many of our alumni have answered the call for our nation's military over the past 150 years. For Veteran's Day, our Chamber Choir was invited to perform at the Milton Senior Center to celebrate our WWII and Korean War Veterans. We were especially honored to have George T. Ryan ‘40 in attendance, celebrating 80 years of being a BC High alumnus. To see video of the performance and hear several of the choir's songs, visit this link.

To all who have served, thank you. Our country and our world are forever in your debt.
A Busy Season for the Hyde Center
The Hyde Center for Global Education is in full swing. Here are just a few highlights:

  • We said goodbye to our inaugural class of exchange students from Colegio San Jose in Barranquilla, Colombia. This marks the first year of BC High’s partnership with the school, and we look forward to many more successful exchanges. BC High students will be visiting Colegio San Jose this summer.

  • This year marks the tenth anniversary of BC High’s exchange program with Belvedere College, SJ, in Dublin, Ireland. Last week, we celebrated our partnership with students, families, and leadership from both schools! I was proud to be in Ireland meeting with Headmaster Gerry Foley and honoring the bonds between our institutions.

  • The Hyde Center is currently accepting applications for our Rwanda, France, and Ireland programs. Applications for our England program will be opening soon!
All Souls Liturgy
On Friday, November 1 we celebrated one of our most important Masses as a faith community - All Saints Day. We took pause to honor not only the hallowed and holy saints of the past, but the modern heroes walking alongside us today. Rev. Nathan Sparks, SJ gave a wonderful homily about the journey we all must take to see ourselves as saints no matter the circumstances of our lives. Click here for a photo album.

In the morning, dozens of parents joined us for an engagement fair to learn more about how to get involved in the school community. And, nearby, dozens more alumni, parents, and friends were on campus for our annual scholarship breakfast. It was an amazing day of depth and breadth with our
BC High family.

This year, I'm particularly heartened by the response to our call for intentions for the Feast of All Souls. We sent out an email request and received hundreds of names of the beloved deceased in our community. We placed these names near the altar in Loyola Chapel to be remembered in our Masses, prayers, and sacrifices as an expression of our faith and in gratitude for all the faithful departed. If you would still like to submit an intention, visit this link.
Homecoming Weekend
What a Homecoming Weekend! On October 19 and 20, more than 1,000 alumni, parents and friends came out to support our soccer and football teams. Incredibly, more than $1,400 was raised for the Ellie Fund to support Breast Cancer Awareness.

More than 60 alumni and parents visited the Eagle Lounge, and the Family Fun Zone was a huge hit. On Sunday, 50 alumni, parents and students cheered on the crew team at the Head of the Charles Regatta. There truly was something for everyone.

Thank you to all who came out for this wonderful new tradition, and to our amazing faculty and staff who made it happen. See you next year! To view a video recapping the weekend visit this link, or for a full photo album click here.
Primus Gradus - The First Step
Thank you to all of the wonderful parents who attended our Primus Gradus reception this past week. Although I could not attend, I heard the night was filled with tremendous fun and friendship. To view a photo album of the evening, visit this link. The video from Principal Adam Lewis below highlights the themes that were celebrated at the Primus Gradus - the reasons we all love this school.

It is important to celebrate being a BC High parent in this fantastic community. I thank you for the faith you have put in us to be partners in your son's formation - and I appreciate all that you do to go above and beyond. Notably, we are at the midpoint of the 90 Day Drive and working hard to reach our goal of 500 donors and $500,000 by December 31. If you have not already done so, please consider visiting this link to make a gift of any amount to support the drive!
