As you know, the 6TD has been working for 3 years now on a plan to improve safety, particularly for pedestrians, in the vicinity of the entrance to Bayley Beach. As part of this process, we designed several plans and had a budget approved for this project by Electors at the 2019 Annual Meeting. As part of that approval, the 6TD promised to present the final plan to residents before proceeding with the project.
After a lot of hard work and input, we now have a final proposal which includes the sidewalk running along Pine Point Road, moving the fence, cleaning garbage and debris that has accumulated and general improvement of the landscaping aesthetic. We expect that few to no trees will need to removed (a maximum of 4 if any). The full proposal has not been finalized as we have been working with our neighbor Roton Point on the improved intersection (driveway entrance). While we initiated discussions with Roton Point in May, and have had several rounds of discussions, we have still not been able to conclude an agreement.
Nevertheless, the 6TD would like to have these safety improvements in place before Memorial Day 2020 and, as such, would need to begin this work before the arrival of winter weather. As a result of this, the 6TD is planning to divide the project into two parts – the sidewalk and the intersection. We plan to proceed with the sidewalk part shortly.
We would like to present what we think is the final plan to residents at the upcoming November 20th meeting at 7 PM in the Community Center. We hope you can join us.
