Happy Valentine's Day
Last year consumers spent 3.5 billion dollars on a special evening out for Valentine’s Day. We don’t want to lose sight of our healthy weight goals. Help your wallet and yourself by cutting some calories and cost and have a romantic dinner at home this year.

By having Valentine’s Day dinner at home we save money, eat more nutrient dense foods, and can increase our variety of foods eaten. Not to mention the lack of stress from not having to drive in crazy traffic, wait 30 minutes or more for subpar service and an overpriced plate of food. Enjoying a meal together at home allows for privacy and a laid back romantic setting. Try these suggestions for your own romantic dinner for two.

Can With Cooperative Extension With Vincent Webb
Canning is a safe, economical way to preserve quality food at home. Canning interrupts the normal spoiling and decaying cycle of food. This is done by heating the food contained in a home canning jar and closing it with a two-piece vacuum sealing cap.

Canning homegrown foods can save you half the cost of buying commercially canned food. Canning your favorite and special products to be enjoyed by family and friends is a fulfilling experience and a source of pride for many people.
