Summer Book Study & Potluck
Continues Aug. 29 at 6:30pm in the Parish Hall
If gratitude is good, why is it so hard to do? In our current political climate, might a more radical practice of gratitude be the one thing we need most right now? In Grateful , Diana Butler Bass weaves together social science research, spiritual wisdom, and contemporary issues as she calls for a richer understanding of gratitude. What emerges are surprising insights about the power of thankful living to change how we treat one another, and how we might transform our world.

We'll begin each session with a potluck supper (bring a favorite dish to share) in the parish hall and then digest Bass' cultural findings and spiritual wonderings, a couple chapters at a time:

Wed. August 8 - Chapters 1 and 2
Wed. August 22 - Chapters 3 and 4
Wed. August 29 - Chapters 5 and 6
Wed. September 5 - Chapters 7 and 8

Please purchase your own copy of the book. We've registered our study group with Brilliant Books on Front Street. They will have copies of the book on hand at 20% off the retail price. If you have questions, contact James Deaton via this link  or by phone at 231-835-0989.

Women's Book Club resumes Sept. 10 at 6pm
at Jubilee House
Any woman is welcome to attend and welcome to bring a friend. Our book for Sept. is The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin. There is a list of books for the coming year on the bulletin board in the parish hall-look for the little pink slip.  If you are unable to attend in Sept. you can join us any month, based on your interest in the title or the amount of time that you have for reading.  Take some time to enjoy a book and then enjoy it a second time seeing it through "other eyes" as we discuss it. For more information you may call or email Kate Wood:  231-941-5785 or email

Turn in your Oleson's receipts to benefit the Grace Food Pantry!

Oleson's Community Share Program

Here's how it works:
  1. You shop at Oleson's for groceries (liquor sales do not qualify for points)
  2. Turn in your receipts to the church.  Look for the envelope on the bulletin board in the Parish Hall, and place your receipts inside it.
  3. We submit receipts back to Oleson's
  4. We are granted cash rewards for the food pantry ($1 spent on groceries = 1 cent in Community Share points)

For every $5000 in receipts we submit, we receive $50 in cash for our food pantry.  Every little bit helps!

Thank you for participating!
