Utilities program wins statewide excellence award
|
Innovative solutions? That's our bread and butter. The City of Round Rock's Utilities and Environmental Services Department recently won a statewide excellence award in public works for using new techniques to repair infrastructure.
Last year, the City used a innovative approach to rehabilitate corrugated metal pipe culverts β which facilitate stormwater drainage β that reduced installation expenses, avoided road closures, and lowered maintenance costs.

Round Rock partners with Jail to Jobs to change lives
|
The City of Round Rock is helping to break the cycle of youth recidivism by partnering with Jail to Jobs.
Jail to Jobs empowers former juvenile offenders through an employment-based mentoring and job skills program. The Round Rock partnership allows program participants to work on special projects at the City, such as organizing parts in the fleet maintenance warehouse, to gain real-world experience before their full-time job placement.

Local tourism generates $308 million in 2018

Round Rock generated $308 million in direct travel spending in 2018, according to the latest numbers released by the Travel Texas Economic Impact Report and the Round Rock Convention and Visitors Bureau (RRCVB).

The library is also home to the collection of the Williamson County Genealogical Society, as well as several other resources that focus on U.S. genealogy, the Southern states, Texas and Williamson and surrounding counties.

Celebrate culture and history at DΓa de los Muertos

Join us in a colorful and lively celebration of culture and history in Downtown Round Rock on Saturday, Nov. 2! DΓa de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is a traditional Mesoamerican holiday dedicated to the ancestors; it honors both death and the cycle of life.
There will be activities for kids and art, craft and food vendors in Centennial Plaza. Dress up in your finest Calaca, Frida, Selena or Prince apparel!

Prescription Drug Take Back Day

Prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding your home of expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs. Bring your prescription medications for disposal, as well as over-the counter and pet medications. Needles, syringes, thermometers, IV bags, medical devices and personal care products will not be accepted. The service is free and anonymous β no questions asked.

The City of Round Rock presents the fall version of its popular Music on Main live music series each Wednesday night through Nov. 13 in Downtown Round Rock. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and the entire family. Check out the variety of dining options on Main Street, grab a bite from food vendors on-site or pack a picnic basket to enjoy the evening of fun and music!

Learn about Round Rock locals who were instrumental in the success of several NASA missions! Author Melissa Gaskill will moderate a panel discussion with former IBM employees Homer Ahr and Sadie Stanley, as well as Brad Mudgett and Lazarus Gonzales of NASA. This free event will also include space-related trivia and light refreshments. Join us early at 6 p.m. for Friends of the Library's general meeting to learn about ways to support your local library.

Household Hazardous Waste Collection

Round Rock residents can safely dispose of residential paint and other household chemicals every first Wednesday of the month. The service is free for City of Round Rock water utility customers, and Brushy Creek and Fern Bluff MUD residents can pick up a Household Hazardous Waste Disposal Voucher from their MUD office to participate. Please bring your driverβs license and City water bill as proof of residency.
