THIS SUNDAY'S SERVICE
KIRI FAGEN-ULMSCHNEIDER AND JANET REVELL BARRETT
Sunday, July 5 at 10:15 a.m. via Live-stream

The process of creating art can be transformative for the artist. Making can be as much about the joy in the process as about the finished object. In our community we have makers of all kinds, and we will share some of their work and some of their experiences as creators.

For the service, we would like to share photos of art works by the “makers” in our congregation, including paintings, sculptures, textiles, and crafts. We hope to celebrate makers of all ages, so encourage your children to share their artwork as well. Please share a photo of this art work or object, along with your name and the title of the work (if there is one) if you wish to be included in this slideshow. Submit your photos to pictures@uucuc.org by Friday, July 3 at 1:00 pm.

UPCOMING SUNDAY SERVICE
JENNIFER GREENE AND KIRI FAGEN-ULMSCHNEIDER
Sunday, July 12 at 10:15 a.m. via Live-stream

An invitation to participate in this service…

Hello fellow UUers! We (Kiri and Jennifer G) are organizing our Sunday morning church service for July 12. This service will feature reflective descriptions of the diverse COVAD-19 experiences of congregation members.

What challenges have you experienced and how have you met those challenges? What surprises have you experienced, and what did you learn from them? How has this time of isolation and quarantine affected you, your family, your friends, and your relationships with others?

We will welcome these pandemic reflections in various forms – descriptive text, literary text, poetry, song, music, and drama. Further, you can video record your own submission and send it in, or you can send in the text and Kiri or I will record it ourselves. This latter option is open only for textual submissions.

If you wish to contribute to this service, please prepare a text that would take a maximum of 2 minutes to read or a video of 2 minutes or less, and send it to both Kiri ( kaulms@gmail.com ) and Jennifer G ( jcgreene@illinois.edu ) by mid-day of July 6, 2020.

We will do our best to include all submissions, time permitting.

Many thanks!!!

Saturday, July 4 at 9:30 a.m.

This is not an easy time for parents. Having to balance everything (work, family, home- schooling, and the anxieties of our time) is difficult. This is a safe place to bring your concerns and discuss any issues with those who are also experiencing the challenges. This is also a good place to connect and build relationships. We look forward to being with you. Read more....

GIVING AND GRATITUDE
UUCUC Social Action Offering.  Each month a selected organization is chosen to receive offerings from our congregation. You may donate to the social action offering for the month in one of the following ways:

During the month of July, we will support the Wesley Food Pantry. In the fall of 2006, the Eastern Illinois Foodbank informed church members of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Urbana that there was an urgent need for a food pantry in Champaign County that offered emergency food during evening hours. In response to this need, three church members started the Wesley Evening Food Pantry that November. The very first food distribution served one family of five. Almost 15 years later, Wesley Food Pantry provides food to an average of 1600 people every month with weekly distributions at the Wesley UMC and satellite locations at Parkland College and the University of Illinois Activities and Recreation Center (ARC). RECENT SHARED OFFERINGS

During the month of May 2020, Sistering CU was selected to be the shared offering. The UUCUC congregation contributed a total of $ 2,205.50 that month!

Sistering CU provides a postpartum support network for families in Champaign County and enable them to successfully navigate the challenges of life with a newborn.
