Founder of the 100 Black Men of Madison Becomes the First African American Deputy Mayor in Wisconsin History

Enis Ragland, founder of the 100 Black Men of Madison in 1994, has become the first African American Deputy Mayor in the 167 year history of Wisconsin. As the result of action taken by the Madison Common Council, 15 September, Enis Ragland was designated, Deputy Mayor - Administration and Finance.

Serving as assistant to Madison Mayors Paul Soglin & Dave Cieslewicz and Chief of Staff to Mayor Susan Bauman, Deputy Mayor Ragland is regarded as one of the most knowledgeable individuals in the State and Region concerning the complexities of municipal government.

Providing counsel to three mayors for more than 18 years, Deputy Mayor Ragland has served as liaison to City departments (Police, Fire, Public Health, Civil Rights, Library), Community and Neighborhood Groups, and Private Sector Businesses & Organizations.

Additionally, Deputy Mayor  Ragland has served as interim director of the former City of Madison Department of Affirmative Action and Interim Supervisor of the Office of Community Services.

Deputy Mayor Ragland holds a BA from the UW-Milwaukee - Milwaukee, Wisconsin and currently serves as Secretary of the 100 Black Men of Madison.

The 100 Black Men of Madison will hold its next General Membership Meeting 10 October 2015, at the Bonefish Grill, 7345 Mineral Point Road, Madison, WI 53711. 

Our guest speaker will be Madison Metropolitan School District Superintendent, Dr. Jennifer Cheatham.

13th Annual College Scholarship Fair
 
The 100 Black Men of Chicago (100 BMC) will host the 13th Annual College Scholarship Fair (CSF) Saturday, 10 October 2015, 9 a.m.- 2 p.m., at the UIC Pavilion, 525 S. Racine Avenue, Chicago, Illinois.

The 100 BMC CSF has become the premier event of its kind in the Midwest, attracting over 200 colleges and universities and attended by approximately 4,000 students, parents, teachers and partners in education.

Over the thirteen years that the 100 BMC has hosted the CSF, the event has helped enable participating colleges and universities to provide millions of dollars in scholarships and grants, and thousands of college acceptances to attending high school students. Parents, teachers, and other stakeholders in the lives of students are also invited and encouraged to participate.

2015 Leadership & Legacy Awards Gala
 
The 100 Black Men of Greater Milwaukee will host the 2015 Leadership & Legacy Awards Gala 13 November 2015, 6:00-9:00 p.m., at the Milwaukee County War Memorial Center, 750 N. Lincoln Memorial, Milwaukee, WI 53202.

This event highlights the outstanding accomplishments and community involvement of African American men dedicated to building a better Milwaukee community.

100 Black Men of Madison - General Membership Meeting
 
The November General Membership Meeting of the 100 Black Men of Madison will be held Saturday, 14 November, 8:00-10:00 a.m., at the Bonefish Grill, 7345 Mineral Point Rd, Madison, WI 53711.

Our Guest Speaker will be Mayor Paul Soglin, City of Madison.

Mayor Paul R. Soglin is the 51st, 54th and 57th Mayor of Madison. He was elected eight times as Mayor of Madison, most recently in 2015, and three times as a Common Council member.
