A big thank you to everyone who worked at and attended our three drop-off and pick-up days. We were blessed with sunny weather (maybe a little too blessed), even when thunderstorms were forecasted.
It was wonderful to see so many our students one last time before we head off to summer!
If you were unable to come this week, the office will be open all next week from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm for you to drop off and pick up any work still in the building.

ART MENGES TECHNOLOGY SCHOLARSHIP:
We had a record number of applicants apply for the Art Menges Technology Scholarship this year and the decision was an extremely difficult one. This $500 scholarship goes toward the tuition of an incoming 7th or 8th grade student who demonstrates a genuine interest in technology with a Christian character and a willingness to help others at St. Veronica School. Our sincerest congratulations go to TYLER LORENZEN!
REPORT CARDS:
Because of the Covid 19 crisis, we adjusted parts of our grading protocol, which in turn, caused some issues with MSP. We have worked with MSP to conquer many of these issues and teachers have spent the last two days finalizing grades. We are trying to give students the benefit of the doubt as we know that we have all struggles and persevered through these last 12 weeks.
It is our plan that report cards will be printed and mailed out next week.
CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR FACULTY AND STAFF:
St. Veronica earned full accreditation status from the Ohio Catholic School Accrediting Association (OCSAA)! As you know we have been working toward this since last fall. We used parent, student, and teacher survey results, and many different test scores (IOWA, ACRE, Star Math and Reading, Dibels) to come up with our academic and Catholic Identity goals that we will focus on over the next four years. Below are the two goals for this cycle of accreditation:
Catholic Identity Goal -
Students will investigate the service-learning process and then, using Catholic virtues as a foundation, demonstrate their knowledge by collaboratively creating and implementing service-learning projects with/for community partners.
Academic Goal -
Students will increase their ability to use, interpret and draw conclusions from a variety of text features (organizational, print and graphics) to impact and strengthen their comprehension across all content areas.
NEXT YEAR:
Earlier this week, Governor DeWine announced that he sees K to 12 schools opening next fall, as long as precautions are taken. This is the plan we have hoped for all along. While we will continue to look for guidance and guidelines on what we need to do to keep our students and staff safe during the school day, we are moving forward with plans that are the most feasible for St. Veronica. There is no doubt things will look different in some respects, and we want to work together with parents to make sure everyone understands our plans and our goals for next year.
As I mentioned last week, you will be receiving a survey, hopefully tomorrow. We ask that you answer the questions in a timely manner and as honestly as you can so your answers can help us to plan more effectively. Thank you in advance for your time and effort.
PARISH NEWS:
As of yesterday, people no longer need to call in or sign up online for weekday Masses. We've had plenty of room, and all has gone well. We are asking that people continue to sign up for Saturday and Sunday Masses. As people start coming back in larger numbers we may need to go back to signing in, but not for now.
We will continue to have no on-site meetings throughout the month of June. Disinfecting areas, and the uncertainty about how the virus is spreading - or not - makes it prudent to remain in a holding pattern for the moment.
The temporary office hours at St. Veronica Parish will continue for the time being:
Monday/Tuesday/Friday 8:00 am - 12:00 pm
Wednesday/Thursday 1:00 pm - 4:30 pm
