Public Input for Comprehensive Facilities Plan

This meeting will provide an opportunity for the community to provide critical input on the City Park Master Plan. During this meeting, the concepts for the Facilities Design Guidelines will also be reviewed and discussed.

The community meeting will be held Wednesday, October 30 , at Collins Community Center in the City park area at 3900 NE Third Avenue beginning at 6 p.m.

West Dixie Lots Begin Oakland Park Square Transformation

Construction crews are working on the environmental cleanup to transform the west Dixie lots at the intersection of N. Dixie Highway and NE 38 th Street/Park Lane East into “ Oakland Park Square .”

The project (not part of the City's facilities bond) is a public-private partnership and the first major mixed-use development in the City’s Community Redevelopment Area (CRA).

Project plans call for nearly 35,000 square feet of commercial space, 87 residential apartments, 11 live-work units, on-site parking for 343 vehicles and 29,000 square feet of new City Hall offices and additional public space.

Water System Chlorination October 16 - November 6

Free chlorination is a common practice for water systems using chloramines for disinfection. The chlorination period is anticipated to be transparent to our customers; however, some may notice a slight change in the taste or smell of their tap water. In addition, some customers may see water running from fire hydrants in their neighborhoods, which is part of the normal maintenance process.

This procedure will affect the City of Fort Lauderdale and City of Oaklan Park utility bill customers.

Halloween Bash with 'Trunk or Treat'

Join all the ghosts and goblins for a not-so-scary evening of fun and family entertainment at Oakland Park’s annual “ Halloween Bash ” from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, October 25 at Jaco Pastorius Park, 4000 N. Dixie Highway.

This free community event is a fun-filled evening for all with a concert by Joel DaSilva, a classic rock & blues band; an interactive children's activity area, kids costume contest, and Oakland Park's famous “Trunk & Treat” with some of the best and spookiest decorated cars and trucks around.

We welcome you to spend your evening with us, have dinner at our food court and drinks at the Big Dog Station bar and settle in for family friendly night of fun and entertainment. Oakland Park restaurants in the food court area are El Guanaco, Lazo Empanadas, Tijuana Flats, New Day Restaurant & Bakery, Leo's Gourmet Frozen Treats, and Oakland Park Little League who will be grilling up hot dogs and burgers.

You can enter your decorated vehicle into the “Trunk & Treat” and have fun handing out candy the cutest kids in town. Prizes will be awarded to the best decorated vehicle.
