Indy Continues to Open

Mayor Hogsett encourages all to wear face masks when in public to protect others from the spread of COVID-19.  As our city continues to open up, it is still important that we continue to practice social distancing. Marion County residents who do not have access to masks can apply to get one here.

Updated Curfew Orders
Mayor Joe Hogsett announced a one-night extension of the curfew order for Marion County, effective beginning the night of June 1st into the morning of June 2nd. The curfew will begin at 8 p.m. on June 1st and last until 4 a.m. on June 2nd. The order contains an earlier end time than the original order due to the June 2nd Election Day, with voting beginning at 6 a.m. Violation of the curfew order is a class B misdemeanor punishable by up to 180 days in jail and fines worth up to $10,000.
Street Closures Promote Social Distancing While Dining Outdoors
Using his authority to temporarily close roads in an emergency, Indianapolis Department of Public Works Director Dan Parker issued an executive order on May 19 closing portions of five streets in dense commercial locations. Read more in Indy Midtown Magazine.

Save the Date: MEC Meeting
The Midtown Economic Council (MEC) will hold a public meeting on June 18th at 4 p.m. at The Hatch, 6161 Hillside Avenue to consider a proposed developer-backed bond, not to exceed $5M, supporting a development project approved for 6201 N College Ave. Bond proceeds would support qualified development costs and eligible on-site public improvement. An Update on Indy Parks
The Indy Parks has reopened its four dog parks including the Broad Ripple Bark Park in Midtown. Indy Parks staff will return to their family centers and facilities in two phases beginning on June 1st. See below for updates regarding Family Centers & Facilities and Day Camps.
Family Centers & Facilities: staff will be available via telephone and email Monday- Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Staff will also hand in-person transactions by appointment only. Park buildings will be closed to the public until June 15th. There will be no weekend services, activities, or programs during this time, with the exception of the Indy Parks Free Meals Program.
Day Camps: Indy Parks is offering 13 summer day camps, which initially began registration in January 2020. Registration was halted in April to evaluate summer plans amid the COVID-19 pandemic. On June 1st, registration will reopen for remaining spots with camps starting on June 15. To register, call 317-327-PARK, visit Indy Parks online , or contact your preferred day camp directly. Day camps will begin on June 15 will new guidelines and safety procedures.

Fiber Optics Poles Removed
Have you seen these popping up all over your neighborhood over the past year? Thanks to Allie Madden, Zayo and Verizon/MCI have agreed to remove the unsightly 5G poles from the Meridian Street Historic District, Butler-Tarkington, and Meridian-Kessler! Removal began on May 16 and crews are still working to get the last of them.
This is certainly a small victory during these pressing times but a victory nonetheless, so thank you Allie for your hard work in the past year to get this done. Let Allie's triumph serve as inspiration for us all as we continue to beautify our Midtown neighborhoods!
RESTART Grant Program for Small Businesses
As small businesses prepare for the reopening in the new realities of COVID-19, the City of Indianapolis and the Indy Chamber are partnering to help entrepreneurs and small business owners purchase necessary personal protective equipment and other health and safety-related items or services.
RESTART Grants will award up to $5,000 to businesses registered in Marion County of 150 employees or less based on reimbursements for purchases of PPE, dividers, hand sanitizer stations, washable restaurant menus, and more. Small business owners need to keep their receipts to be reimbursed by RESTART Grants.

Food Access in Midtown
Indy Parks is still offering free, special meal service on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for all children 18 and under! There are sandwiches from Second Helpings available for all adults. View the full schedule and locations.
Gleaners Food Bank is offering CARE Mobile Pantries June 1-August 29 in Marion County, check out the locations here.
