Mayor Cook Speaks about New Distracted Driving Law
Mayor Andy Cook of Westfield spoke with Steve Jefferson on WLTC-AM Community Connection regarding House Bill 1070. Starting July 1, drivers are prohibited from holding or using a cellphone while operating a motor vehicle unless they use hands-free technology. USDOT Awards Indiana $4.4 Million for I-70 Truck Automation Corridor Project
The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) is receiving a U.S. Department of Transportation grant focused on automated driving technology. The I-70 Truck Automation Corridor project will deploy smart logistics solutions along a stretch of I-70 between Indianapolis and Columbus, Ohio. This multistate approach, along with participation from technology providers, truck manufacturers, regional logistics councils and private freight companies, makes this project unique. With partners contributing $4.5 million in matching funds, the total investment in this project will be $8.9 million. Learn more about the project here.
B & O Trail Tunnel Construction to Begin in Brownsburg
CR 300N between Northfield Drive and CR 900E is closed for the construction of the B&O Trail tunnel through July in Brownsburg. The MPO provided funding for the project using Transportation Alternative funds, totaling $685,000. Learn more here.
Transit Agencies Help Communities During COVID-19
In response to a request from their local Chamber of Commerce, Access Johnson County Public Transit donated surplus cases of cleaning supplies and health kits—including in-demand items such as masks, gloves, hand sanitizer, and disposable blankets—to Johnson Memorial Health for use in its new emergency department.
