MONDAY MESSENGER NEWS
THIS CUTE DOG THINKS YOU WOULD BE THE PERFECT MONDAY MESSENGER EDITOR NEXT YEAR!

That's right. This adorable dog knows how much you want to:
  1. Help out the IS community in an easy but huge way!
  2. Be the first to know about what's going on at IS, in the district, in the larger school community, and in the state school community!
  3. Volunteer at home and on your schedule (even in your pajamas, if you feel like it)!

Basic computer skills, attention to detail, and the desire to know what's going on at International are all you'll need to volunteer as the Monday Messenger Editor for 2020–21. If you are interested, please email the current editor, Julie Molinari . She will be happy to work with you into the new school year as you learn the ropes (it's really not hard, if she can do it, anyone can!).

NOMINATIONS FOR ISPTSA BOARD MEMBERS TO BE TAKEN AT GENERAL ELECTION MEETING, JUNE 11

Over the last month or so, we have been asking for nominations for next year's ISPTSA board members. We have had a few people step up, however a large majority of our positions are still open due to many of our members fulfilling their two-year commitment. With all that is going on in our world today, thinking of the ISPTSA may not be at the top of your thinking, but we plan to continue on next year.

We currently have three positions filled and six open. Normally, we don’t have many problems filling positions, as our PTSA does a lot for the school and its teachers, staff, and students, all of whom recognize our importance. In light of the circumstances, we will take nominations for open positions and co-positions from the floor at our General Election Meeting on Thursday, June 11.

PTSA ADVOCACY ACTION ALERT FOR TUESDAY, JUNE 1

Washington was the first state in the country to face widespread school closures because of COVID-19, and OSPI acted fast by submitting many critical waiver requests to USDA to help ensure no child would go hungry. With so many families facing new financial challenges, school meals have kept many from food insecurity. Though USDA has extended several waivers through this summer, it has not yet granted an extension of Washington’s area eligibility waiver to allow nonprofits and school districts to continue providing meals to all students. Time is running out! Without this waiver, it is especially difficult for schools and communities to plan for Summer Meals and ensure kids don’t go hungry this summer.
