Third Grade Bible Presentation Sunday

Every year, our third graders have a special Sunday when they receive a Bible from the church. This will take place during the Time With Our Children this Sunday, October 20. If you can't be there but would still like to receive your Bible, please e-mail Chesna ( chesnahinkley@wpc.org).

Youth Guatemala Trip Information Session

Yes - the trip is on! The Westminster Youth Partnership Trip to Guatemala will be June 16-24, 2020. This trip is open to all CURRENT 10th, 11th and 12th graders who have attended Confirmation class. If you have even the slightest inkling about joining us on this trip, please come to our Trip Information Session this Sunday, October 20, at 10:10 a.m. in Classroom 7. This presentation will be for all interested youth and their parents. You will learn more details about the trip, including costs, itinerary, and what to expect. Bring your questions! Stephen Minister Training

Dealing with Dementia
Tuesday, October 22, 6:30 p.m. in Grace Hall
All Westminster members and friends are welcome to attend this month's Stephen Ministry meeting, which features a speaker from the Alzheimer's Association. The program, entitled "Effective Communication Strategies," explains how to decode the words and behaviors of a person with dementia as well as providing strategies to help you communicate at each stage of the disease.
Come to the Empty Bowl Dinner!
Tuesday, October 22, at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church
Come savor delicious soups donated by local restaurants and homemade desserts, and then take home a handcrafted bowl! Your support helps to raise funds for the food ministries of two of our mission partners: St. Stephen's Food Pantry and Family Promise. This is the sixth year of this event, which is hosted by neighboring St. Stephen's Lutheran Church. There are three seatings: 4:00 p.m., 5:30 p.m., and 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 at the door. Have a delicious dinner and make a difference! Spotlight on Children's Choirs

The Joyful Noise (K-2nd grade) and Sing-to-Praise (3rd-6th grade) choirs will sing in worship on October 27! This is a ONE SERVICE Sunday, so join us at 10:00 a.m. to benefit from their hard work and musical gifts. Stick around for the Fall Festival on the lawn after worship!
WPC Annual Fall Festival

Naila and the Uprising
Tuesday, November 5, 7:00 p.m. at Silverside Church
Delaware Churches for Middle East Peace is sponsoring the film "Naila and the Uprising" on Tuesday, November 5, at 7:00 p.m. at Silverside Church (2800 Silverside Road, Wilmington, DE). Shown in 25 countries, PBS featured this film as part of the acclaimed "Women, War & Peace" series. From the film synopsis: "This film brings out of anonymity the courageous women who shook the Israeli occupation and put Palestinians on the map for the first time...[It] tells the story that history overlooked - of an unbending nonviolent women's movement at the head of Palestine's struggle for freedom."

  • Please donate new or used items in good condition.
  • On bazaar day, November 8: Hot dogs and chili (10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.), spaghetti dinner (5:00 - 7:00 p.m.)

Coffee Can Collection
Deadline: November 18
Bring your ~11 ounce metal or foil-lined cans with lids to the box near the reception desk before November 18. Call Sara at (302) 478-2210 to join the Elves on that morning (November 18) at 10:00 a.m., when we wrap the cans with Christmas paper. On December 7, cookie-baking elves will fill the cans with yummy cookies. Each recipient family of our Christmas Box Project will find this special treat in their Christmas Box!
SERRV Fair Trade, Handmade
Sunday, November 24
This year, SERRV sales will move from the Bazaar to the Advent Event on Sunday, November 24. Ornaments, chocolates, and chocolate Advent calendars will be available for $8 each. If you are interested in the Advent calendars, please contact Mary Field or Sue Weissinger as soon as possible so the calendars can be preordered and available at the Advent Event.

We celebrate with our Associate Pastor as Sudie and her husband, Brenton, prepare to welcome their second child, due on April 10. Sudie and Greg are working with our Personnel Committee to ensure that Sudie's responsibilities are covered during her maternity leave in the spring and early summer of 2020.
