This summer and fall, work will be underway to make pavement and aesthetic improvements to the 3rd Avenue Bridge downtown. 

The project includes resurfacing the pavement on the bridge, replacing bridge joints, sidewalk/ADA improvements, and transitioning the parking from angle to parallel (including a buffer zone for protected bike lanes). 

Current Work

The majority of work right now is taking place at the intersection of 3rd Ave and 1 St SW. The contractor is working on utilities and sidewalk ramps. Intersection resurfacing will also take place. This work will continue for approximately four weeks. 

Future Work

In approximately mid-September, the bridge work will get underway.  The bridge will be closed during this work; a lane will remain open to access the Linn County Courthouse and jail. 

Overall Timeline

Work this year will focus primarily on the pavement improvements and street lighting, and is anticipated to be completed by November 2018. 

In 2019, aesthetics such as benches and planters will be incorporated.
