This Week at Christ Church
Thirteenth Sunday after Pentecost:
Bread of Life - Live in Love Edition

You really can't get too much of the Bread of Life. But in case you feel that way, come contemplate what it is to "live in love as Christ loved us." The letter to the Ephesians suggests being kind to one another, tender-hearted and forgiving is a start!

If you're in town, I hope you'll come to services and live in Love with your family at CC. If you're traveling, I hope you'll live in Love, wherever you are, and be restored in mind, body and spirit.

I'll still be on vacation, but this week the fantastic the Rev. Dr. Carol Flett will be worshiping with you at 8AM and 10AM, and the Rev. Nathaniel ("Nate") Jung-Chul Lee will be worshiping with you at 5pm.  If you're interested in joining in the witness for peace and tolerance this Sunday, please see the info below.

Blessings and peace, Emily

When it's 99 degrees in the shade, our neighbors on the street need water. Please bring in bottled water and place in the hallway. It will be transported to Bethesda Cares. Many thanks and thank you to those of you who have already brought some in!  - The Outreach Cmte.

Looking Ahead

Summer Youth Group August 26th at 11:15 AM! Ever had a question about church or the Bible that you didn't know the answer to? We'll be doing a Q&A with Mother Emily and Youth Minister Madi in the library on August 26th. Come prepared with questions! Please check with Madison Chase about the gathering by email or text if you are interested in attending.

Labor Day Parade on September 3, 2018 !  Come join us as we march/stroll in the annual Kensington Labor Day Parade. It's incredibly fun morning and a great way to let our neighbors know that we're here and alive with joy! We will distribute Tote Bags, Flyers with upcoming events, and of course, Candy for the children along the way.  Also as we prepare, we welcome donations of "Parade Candy" - individually wrapped hard or soft candy, and gum; for example, Smarties, Tootsie Rolls, Twizzlers, Salt Water Taffy, Suckers, Starbursts, Skittles, SweetTarts, and Jolly Ranchers.  No chocolates or other candy that might melt in hot weather.

Prime Timers will return on Thursday, September 6th .   Bill Carey will be discussing the     history and background of the Strathmore Hall Foundation and Mansion at Strathmore; the story behind the Music Center at Strathmore and their partner organizations;  the programming for the upcoming 2018-2019 season; and the future of Strathmore in the Arts Community in Montgomery County.  Please RSVP to Nora Buckley at [email protected] or call 301-564-0689 to let her know you are attending and if you wish to order a lunch ($10).  Deadline for lunch orders is Monday, Sept. 3.

Christ Church BBQ on September 9!
Please mark your calendars for our annual barbeque & picnic to kick off the fall - always a fun event! Hamburgers, hot dogs, veggie burgers and turkey burgers will be provided by Parish Life but we would greatly appreciate sides and desserts.  We'll also provide water and lemonade. Grill Master Carl Keith will man the grill but needs assistants so we'd like volunteers to help with grilling as well as to set up the tables outside and to dismantle at the end of the picnic. If you are able to assist, please contact Jane Aylor at [email protected]
