August  2018
Dear Greenfield Families

I hope you have had a restful summer. It seems as if school ended just week ago, that may be because it actually did.  We are quickly closing in on the first day of school. I am sure there are groans and cheers going on in your household as this is read.  I am eagerly awaiting the return of our students on the 27th of August. It is amazing to think that that is only two weeks away. In preparation for the new school year I want to provide you with several reminders.

First Day of School: August 27, 2018
School Start time: 8:21 AM (whistle blows at 8:15 to line up).
Students arriving after 8:25 AM will be marked late and must obtain a late slip in the office.
School End Time: 3:00 PM (students in grades k-2 not picked up by 3:05 will be in the office, older students who go home on their own need to leave the school yard at the end of the day and head home).

Uniforms are the same as last year. A quick reminder that consists of a white or blue collared shirt, or any Greenfield shirt. Students may also wear any Greenfield sweatshirt (crew neck green for k-4, Greenfield hoodie 5-8, SPOK sweatshirts). Students need to wear khaki or Navy pants, shorts, skorts etc.  All dress down days are listed on the monthly school calendar. Please refer to the parent and student handbook for the complete dress  code.

If you have not already signed up for our weekly Newsletter please do so on the school website at  https://www.albertmgreenfieldschool.org . This is the best way to stay on top off all school and home and school information in one place every week. In the first several weeks there will be important information about after school club sign ups like our new homework club and many other offerings.

You can also find the student and parent handbook on the same website, please take time to go over it with your students.

If you have been volunteering at school or gone on field trips you have turned in your State Police clearances and Child Line clearance. There is an additional step you need to complete. To be cleared to volunteer you need the following:
Child Line Clearance:         https://www.compass.state.pa.us/cwis/public/home
Before you begin volunteering you must have your documentation of all three of these turned in to the main office.

If you are new to Greenfield or you student did not receive their summer reading assignment due to absence, please make sure to contact the main office ASAP to obtain these materials so your student is ready for the first day of school. (This does not apply to Kindergarten).

Kindergarten Parents you should have received an invitation for a Sign Up Genius Event of Kindergarten Interviews. If you have not received this email please email me dlazar@philasd.org so that we can take care of any issues. If you have not responded please do so that you can ensure your interview is set up for August 21, 22 or 23.

The teachers and I look forward to seeing you and your students on August 27!
Enjoy the rest of your summer

FYI: CELL PHONES ARE NOT ALLOWED IN SCHOOL! SO ARE APPLE WATCHES, WATCH PHONES AND OTHER SMART DEVICES! IF THEY COME TO SCHOOL THEY NEED TO BE TURNED IN TO THE TEACHER! SEE THE HANDBOOK FOR MORE INFO.

Thank You,

Principal Lazar
