Family members of our Early Childhood Center students gathered in our kitchen to learn healthy and affordable recipes that they can make with their children, including several kinds of granola;
bulgur, black bean and sweet potato chili; and a kale, beet and arugula salad.
Teaching Kitchen Chef Lynn Loflin led a discussion on the nutritional value of the foods that their children are eating for breakfast, lunch and dinner at the Neighborhood House and laid out samples of recent meals that we have served for the family members to try. Workshops like this facilitate open communication between families and staff and provide a valuable understanding of the foods we choose to serve.
