Hello dear friends and clients,

Bigfork has had a beautiful summer. With summer, comes the possibility of lightning which ignites forest fires. The west sure has its share and Montana didn't escape them this year either. Our closest and biggest fire is in Glacier Park. If you are planning a park trip, please check ahead. Avalanche Campground and other areas are closed. Read about the fires.

Bigfork's biggest event is coming up soon. The Crown of the Continent Guitar Festival is an amazing time with famous and new musicians from all over the US. Come
for the artistry, the scenery, and most importantly the people.
For a schedule and tickets, click here. Also, don't miss the Bigfork Village Market and our very own Bigfork Performing Arts Center theater season...always popular and this year is no exception. Click for a  performance schedule. Come to Bigfork and enjoy!

Our real estate market continues to be brisk. Sold prices are holding close to list prices in ranges under $450,000. We are also seeing less days on market in that price range as well. There is an interesting graph showing 2018 trends relating sold prices by price per square foot in Flathead Valley residential areas: Kalispell, Columbia Falls, Bigfork and Whitefish. (click here for graph)

It's an exciting and beautiful place to live so if
you are thinking of listing your property, or buying a property in Montana, my experience, record and expertise will successfully guide you through the negotiation process toward the right price. Call, text or email me. We'll have dinner  (I have an in with the local sushi place)! See you soon.

Cheers!
Denise

Denise's Kitchen Corner...Best Ever Strawberry Spinach Salad

Candied Pecan Ingredients
1 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoons packed light brown sugar
1/2 cup pecan halves
pinch salt
Dressing Ingredients
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1/4 cup extra light tasting olive oil
1/4 cup white wine vinegar
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
2 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon paprika
Salad Ingredients
10 ounces fresh baby spinach - rinsed, dried and torn into bite-size pieces
1/4 small red onion sliced
1 quart fresh strawberries, hulled and quartered
1/2 cup fresh blueberries
1/2 avocado, cut into bite sized pieces
1/2 (5 ounce) package blue cheese crumbles

Place a silpat mat or a sheet of parchment paper on the counter top to dry the pecans. In a small skillet over medium heat melt butter. Add pecans, sugar and salt. Stir until pecans are well coated. Stir until the sugar caramelizes, about 3-5 minutes. Spread onto silpat or parchment paper. Separate pecans. Allow to cool. Meanwhile: in a pint size mason jar combine dressing ingredients. Seal and shake until well combined. Set aside on the counter. In a large bowl combine the spinach, onions, strawberries and blueberries. Pour about 1/2 of dressing over salad, and toss. Top with avocado, cheese and candied nuts. Serve remaining dressing on the side. Refrigerate for 15 minutes before serving (or serve immediately). Serve with the remaining dressing on the side. Enjo y!

Denise's Book Corner

Author Jon C ohen says, "Enchantment is a part of everyday existence."

I agree wholeheartedly. Where would we be without a little enchantment in our lives? I love this book for lots of reasons...the setting on the Susquehanna River, a wide river like the Flathead. The forest, like the one around my home. Everyday events like we all have with a magical twist. Loss followed by faith and friendship. Uplifting all around!

Here's the plot.
Oriana's father died in the snow with his arms outstretched like an angel. She plays alone in the forest with fantasies that her father is a winged creature living among the trees.

While playing alone one day, she meets Harry Crane, a 34 year old tree analyst for the US Forest Service. He is mourning the death of his wife that he believes was his fault. Oriana takes this as a sign and the two form a friendship.

The intriguing events that unfold are anchored in reality but perceived by Oriana and Harry as magical. These two people end up reaching deep inside themselves with the help of the other.  Kindness rules along with some humor, wonder and whimsy.
