On Saturday the 14th of September, over 50 Atwater Village residents came together to discuss the future of planning in the neighborhood at the Views From The Village Town Hall event at Atwater Avenue Elementary School. Among the topics discussed were land use, Atwater Village history, the future of housing for the area, green spaces in the neighborhood and transportation concerns. The town hall was the culmination of a neighborhood survey process that is designed to inform the future community plan for the neighborhood. If you are interested in more survey results, you can find a presentation on them here.

On Saturday October 5th the AVNC co-sponsored a street fair as part of the county-wide Weekend To End Homelessness. 3 blocks of Glendale Blvd were closed for the event that featured a car show, artistic vendors, DJs, the AVNC Kidszone, and 5 bands headlined by Brian & Nikki from Atwater's own Silversun Pickups. Guest speakers about the homelessness crisis included CA State Assemblymember Laura Friedman, LA City Councilmember Mitch O'Farrell, representatives from LA County Supervisor Kuehl's Office, LAHSA, & the SELAH Neighborhood Homeless Coalition. A fun day was had by all.
