Two Tree Walks led by Dave Muffly
Tree Walk: Trees of Stanford TreesStanford
Saturday, December 9, 10am - 12pm
Frost Amphitheater,  365 Lasuen St, Stanford

Join expert arborist Dave Muffly as we explore the rich mosaic of tree species on the Stanford campus. View a stunning  Quercus nigra and learn about the decade of experimentation with hybrid oaks, which grow alongside mature oaks, both native and otherwise.  This juxtaposition provides a powerful introduction to one of the hottest topics in biosciences today, the question of whether to incorporate climate change adaptability into our landscape choices. This walk meets at the main entrance of Frost near the Bing Concert Hall, at Stanford University.

Tree Walk: East Palo AltoSoundwall Soundwall
Saturday, January 13, 2018
10am - 12pm
330 Donohoe St, East Palo Alto

Join us at the East Palo Alto Soundwall to see the trees that were the inspiration, and the proof of concept, for the diverse forest now growing at the new Apple Park campus. This walk will be led by Dave Muffly, now Senior Arborist for Apple. Now in the ground almost a decade, with little or no supplemental irrigation in recent years, this successful and profoundly drought adapted planting was Canopy's first foray into East Palo Alto, where we have now planted over 2,000 trees. The walk will begin on the East Palo Alto's west side, at the corner of West Bayshore and Donahoe St. (just past the Four Seasons Hotel).

2018 Tree Walk Series is now on the calendar!

This fall we completed another hugely successful round of tree plantings in East Palo Alto!

A huge thank you to all the incredible planting leaders, volunteers, and residents for their hard work helping us grow the urban forest for a greener, sustainable future!

On October 7th, we planted 39 trees with the help of residents and volunteers, including SEWA International, Service League of Boys, EPATT, and the Bahais of EPA. Two weeks later we joined Acterra, GRID Alternatives, and Habitat for Humanity for a Kavanaugh neighborhood greening event, with 26 trees planted. The final planting brought together volunteers and residents to plant 20 trees in the University Square neighborhood.

Special thanks to our tree champions
who were instrumental in helping us plan the days: Will Schulz, Romain Taniere and Luis Guzman, and Paola Decesero. We couldn't have done it without you!

Thank you to everyone who
participated in #GivingTuesday thankyou

You can still join the giving movement with a year-end gift.

#GivingTuesday isn't about just one day; it's about building a movement of sharing and collaboration to create a better world. Today, you can make a difference with a tax-deductible year-end donation or tree gift to support urban trees and nature locally. Thanks to everyone who makes our work possible!
