No Hit Zones offer a proactive way to promote safe and caring environments for children where no hitting of any kind is allowed. By becoming an official No Hit Zone, Pendleton Place commits to educating the community on the impact of spanking on the health and well-being of children as well as the risk of child maltreatment associated with corporal punishment. When disruptive situations arise at Pendleton Place in which an adult or child might resort to a hitting response, trained staff at Pendleton Place provide effective guidance in a non-shaming and non-blaming way that demonstrates the effectiveness of painless parenting in a powerful way.
 
We are grateful to our Assessment Center team and our partners at Prisma Health Children's Hospital for being champions of this effort. Celebrating MORE Milestones & Successes at Smith House

Last month we were able to share some significant milestones and successes for our Smith House residents. Despite the challenges of COVID-19, residents continue to make amazing strides in their personal goals and steps towards independence. 

This month we want to acknowledge their hard work and share that two more residents obtained their driver's permit, one got her license, two residents obtained jobs, and one is celebrating an acceptance to Furman University.  Halla Banafa, Director of Residential Services shared, "We are so incredibly proud of all the hard work and milestones these wonderful young ladies continue to push through and achieve. It truly is such an honor to be able to witness all the growth that happens at Smith House."
Youth Resource Center: Partner Shout-Out!

Pendleton Place and the Youth Resource Center would like to extend a special thank you to some of our community partners whose support has been invaluable over the past few weeks  as we strive to improve the lives of youth experiencing homelessness and housing instability. 


They are an integral partner in our rapid re-housing program and helped us to continue to get youth off the streets and stabilized even during COVID.

Their support and regular deliveries provide much needed meals for youth who visit our center during drop-in hours. 

Despite the challenges of operating during COVID-19, they worked with us to ensure our youth who exited the streets could obtain furniture and household items for their new homes.

Donor Spotlight: 
The Satterfield Family 

This month's donor spotlight goes to a special family who learned about Pendleton Place when their future foster child was a resident of Smith House for a short time while they finalized their Kinship Care license. They reached out and connected with our Development staff over Facebook messenger and shortly after they made a cash donation and also coordinated the delivery of a truck full of needed donations!  Julia Satterfield shared, "I did not know that Pendleton Place existed until (she) went there or our donations would have started sooner.  We will be continuing to donate to Pendleton Place on a monthly basis." Thank you Satterfield Family!

We have received several generous donations of masks but are in need of more!  If you are a mask maker, or know someone who is, we would appreciate your support!
