NUSD students recognized for their   outstanding achievements
NUSD celebrated over 500 students who represent achievement in Academics, Technology, Careers, The Arts, and Athletics.

After walking down the red carpet with their family, each student received a medal, photo with an NUSD Board member, and a tasty box of treats. Congratulations to all of our super stars!
Students across NUSD participate in   Crunch Day
On Thursday, October 24th, NUSD joined schools and organizations across the state in eating a local produce during lunchtime. This year, students and staff were encouraged to try locally grown green beans from Fiery Ginger Farms in West Sacramento. The Nutrition Services team along with our local farmer from Fiery Ginger Farms hosted an event at Natomas Middle School to support farm to school initiatives and encourage healthy eating.

Take a look at how we added some "crunch" to our Crunch Day!

On Track to College Letters mailed home twice a year
As part of NUSD's vision to graduate students as college and career ready, parents with 10th, 11th, and 12th graders at Inderkum High, Leroy Greene Academy, and Natomas High will receive a personalized On Track to College letter this week. These letters look at progress toward readiness for graduation and college. The letters also show students their competitiveness toward college admissions to California four-year and two-year universities.

Please take the time to go over the details of the letter with your student and encourage them to contact their counselor for further help on how to stay on track to graduate and go to college. For more information, please visit the College and Career web page
on the District website.

Red Ribbon Week, NUSD style
During the month of October, students district-wide are standing up, speaking out on Bullying Prevention Month. NUSD is also celebrating Red Ribbon Week from October 23-31, the nation's oldest and largest drug prevention awareness program. This year's Red Ribbon theme is, Send A Message, Stay Drug-Free. Each school participates in student assemblies, poster contests, skits, and other events to honor Red Ribbon Week and National Bullying Prevention Month.

Here are some examples of how NUSD students are reinforcing a drug and bully-free campus.
