We are very happy to be bringing you another collection of new acquisitions, after the summer months of busy-ness in the shop. The year seems to be flying by and suddenly we are on November's doorstep. October has turned moody, as it always does, and the trees seem to have lost their leaves overnight, leaving their spindly branches standing in contrast against the cloudy sky.
Now that we are entering the slower season, we have some interesting new maps that we are excited to share with you. Our staff has slowly reduced to only Bob and Perri, so the pace of new items being added has naturally reduced. If you know someone in the Chatham area who would love to work here, we might be hiring if the fit is right!

We are pleased to offer a rare antique map of the world in hemispheres by T. Conder, 1778, "Engraved for Moore's New and Compleat Collection of Voyages and Travels." This map was created by Charles Eliot II, nephew of the Trustees of Reservations founder. The history as described on baycircuit.org: "The idea for the Bay Circuit Trail & Greenway first arose in 1929. It would be an "outer Emerald Necklace," proponents said-a greenbelt that would mirror the famous string of Frederick Law Olmsted-designed parks threading through urban Boston-and would provide open space for the metropolitan area's quickly expanding population." The Bay Circuit shown on this map is not exactly the same as the Bay Circuit that exists today, which makes this map all the more delightful!

Here we have an interesting map of part of Europe "Showing at one view the True Bearing and Horizontal Distance of any Place within 700 miles of London: Drawn by the Best Authorities." It features concentric ovals radiating out from London showing distances in measurements of 20 miles, intersected with lines of the compass directions.

Alaska was granted statehood on January 3, 1959, which naturally resulted in increased interest in the new state. This detailed map shows notable buildings, structures, or activities for many major towns and cities, with detailed information about the history of Alaska. With ships, animals, totem poles, and even a sea monster, this map will deliver new delights each time you inspect it!

This double-sided folding road map covers all of Long Island as well as Manhattan. Roads are distinguished by type: Good roads, Fair roads, Ordinary roads, Bicycle Sidepath along Road, Bicycle Sidepath on open Road.

#7: New Civil War Battle Maps
A few new faces have joined our collection of 1867 Civil War battle maps by Bien and the US War Dept. They include Chancellorsville, and Jetersville and Sailors Creek. We have also acquired several that we had previously sold, including Harper's Ferry, Richmond, and Fredericksburg.
