DCC Presents ‘UKNIGHTED: 6 Feet Apart’ Plan to Partially Reopen Campus for the Summer/Fall Semester
DCC, in keeping with their COVID-19 taskforce plan and the recommendations set forth by the Virginia Community College System, plans to partially reopen their campus to students who are enrolled in technical/workforce programs that require face-to-face instruction on July 1, 2020.

DCC Students Earn Recognition from International Honor Society
Two Danville Community College students have been nominated to the Phi Theta Kappa 2020 All-Virginia Academic Team.

Danville Community College Provides Relief Funding to Students
DCC distributed funding from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act to eligible students in June.

Support-A-Knight Fund Helps DCC Students Impacted by Pandemic
Support-a-Knight, a campaign initiated by the Danville Community College Educational Foundation, aims to support DCC students who have been directly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

DCC Professor Featured in Statewide Spotlight
Take Five with Bradley Prillaman, recently promoted to coordinator of academic advising at DCC.

This is the second in Virginia's Community Colleges' Take Five series on outstanding VCCS faculty members. Our objective is to shine a light on those who are innovating while educating and in the process, taking classroom instruction and student engagement to a whole new level.

32 Graduate from Governor's School
The Piedmont Governor’s School for Math, Science and Technology graduated 32 seniors from Danville and Pittsylvania County school systems. Each earned between 45-48 credit hours through the dual enrollment program at Danville Community College. Students plan to attend a variety of universities, including Virginia Tech, James Madison University and the University of Virginia. Early in the year, the students gathered for an orientation session in IALR’s auditorium as pictured.
AET Graduates Fifth Class
The Academy for Engineering and Technology graduated 25 students from Danville and Pittsylvania County school systems. They earned up to 27 credit hours through Danville Community College and six additional hours through Virginia State University. Many will attend in-state universities for engineering or STEM-related majors. One student will attend Harvard University. Last fall, students pictured visited Kyocera SGS Tech Hub to learn about engineering applications in the workplace.
DCC graduate hired by IALR as Manager of Facilities Maintenance
Stewart East was recently promoted to fulfill the Manager of Facilities Maintenance position at IALR . East has helped maintain IALR’s campus-wide facilities maintenance systems and processes to support IALR’s business goals and objectives since joining the team in 2013.

He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Averett University and an associate degree for electricity from Danville Community College. He also recently earned the Journeyman Electrician License. This demanding distinction requires at least four years of experience, 240 hours of formal vocational training and completion of the final examination.
