Greetings!
I am very excited to be serving as the new President and CEO of United Way of North Central Florida. For more than 11 years I have been working in North Central Florida to help create positive change for the residents of our community. Most recently, I was working as a consultant with Healthy Start of North Central Florida and the WellFlorida Council. In that role, I had the opportunity to collaborate with the Alachua County Children’s Services Advisory Board, the Board of County Commissioners, UF Health Shands and North Florida Regional Medical Center, and many other organizations.
In addition, I have been serving on the planning team that is leading the campaign to create a
Children’s Trust in Alachua County
. If the voters support the ballot referendum on November 6
th
the Children’s Trust will bring about $7 million to our community annually to provide a continuum of services for children from 0-18 years old.
In the early days of my career, I worked for a United States Congressman, was a medical social worker at three different hospitals, ran a pediatric AIDS program and worked in child welfare helping to ensure fewer children were abused and neglected. In addition, I had the opportunity to teach at the community college and university level and have been a trainer and consultant to one of the largest child welfare agencies in the United States.
As you can see, my extensive background in social work, collaboration with nonprofits and passion for helping our community align with United Way's mission.
My goals and hopes for my time at United Way includes increasing the amount donated to our funded impact partners, collaboration with more nonprofits to provide service to more individuals, and ensure housing for homeless school children and their families in our region.
I hope you will help us to continue to support our partnerships with organizations that increase the health, education and financial stability of every person in our community.
