Welcome to Christ Lutheran e-news, a weekly electronic newsletter which highlights programs and activities of our congregation. Feel free to .

On Sunday evening at 5:00 we gather for Evening Prayer: Immigration.

Our homilist will be Linda Hartke, a daughter of St. John, Sudbury, alumna of Smith College, and former Chief of Staff to U.S. Congressman Chet Atkins. She worked for Church World Service (in New York and Phnom Penh), chaired the World AIDS Campaign and Amnesty International USA, served as President and CEO of Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service from 2010-2018, and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Center for Migration Studies. She is a passionate advocate for justice for refugees, migrants   and all who face discrimination, stigma or disadvantage.

Friends will join the CLC Choir in songs from the Americas, and, as has been our practice, a simple supper and conversation with the preacher will follow the liturgy. There is no charge for the event. A freewill offering will be received to offset expenses, with any surplus designated for the purchase of a minibus for Iglesia Luterana Cristo Rey for its ministry with migrants on the El Paso/Juarez border.

Youth & Family
Gail Weston-Roberts, Youth & Family Ministries Coordinator

Hello, CLC Youth and Parentage!

I organized our creator-space in the fellowship hall yesterday, so how about a creative event this Saturday, morning or afternoon? We now have finished 27 quilts in the building-yaaay!

Now is a good time to decide how many children's quilts you want to build to stuff into the minibus before it leaves for El Paso. So I'll be Calling you about meeting times and Saturday.

Thank ye kindly, families! Gail W-R

                                         ADULT FORUM

This month we look at some of the more difficult stories and passages in Scripture, bearing in mind some of the principles that guide Lutherans in interpreting Scripture. On Sunday we'll consider Revelation 13. Join us in the Memorial Room at 9:00 for some engaging conversation!
BIBLE STUDY

Led by Pastor Richard Hurst, the Bible study group meets each Thursday at the church. We invite you to join with us as we gather for coffee and refreshments at 9:45 a.m. in the Memorial Room so that the hour discussion/study can begin promptly at 10:00 a.m.

READINGS FOR THIS WEEK - Twenty-first Sunday After Pentecost
November 3, 2019

In holy baptism God makes saints out of sinners. In holy communion God forgives the sins of all the saints. In the assembly today we give thanks for all the saints "who from their labors rest," who have fought the good fight, who have gained the crown. In the same breath we petition our God for the strength to hear and to heed the admonitions of the Lord Jesus in today's gospel. Recalling that we have been sealed by the Spirit and sustained by the Savior's body and blood, we keep on keeping on as God gives us breath, to the praise of God's glory.

Sing For Joy
Enhance your understanding of the weekly scripture readings by listening to Sing For Joy http://www.stolaf.edu/singforjoy/ from St. Olaf College.  The Sing For Joy radio program, produced by St. Olaf College , has a simple mission: to explore the weekly themes of Christian worship by providing the best in sacred choral music and thoughtful commentary. The musical performances eloquently "do the talking," while the concise remarks from host Pastor Bruce Benson illuminate the meaning of the texts.
