Race & Christian Community Initiative
Ministry Launch Party!
May 31st, 2018
Praise God!
Hello friends and family,

Thank you for your prayers, support, and encouragement as I've developed the Race & Christian Community Initiative! It's been a wild journey, but after two-years of ministry development, I am delighted to celebrate the official launch of this timely ministry.

Please see below to learn more about how God worked in and through the launch to connect, equip, and encourage people to work towards racial reconciliation in Boston.

With gratitude and appreciation,

Megan
The evening began with a time of fellowship and networking. Though the room was hot and crowded, there was an excitement and energy that was electric. It was so encouraging to see people who wouldn't normally find themselves in the same room connecting and learning from one another. In addition, people had the opportunity to browse a robust resource table that included recommended books, articles and promotional materials from 16 local racial justice organizations.
The launch party was an incredible event through which God worked. But don't take my word for it, check out the feedback we've got!
RCCI's Ministry Launch Party was held at Bethel AME in Boston. Their sizable fellowship hall was overflowing with over 130 people of different races, ages, faith traditions and experiences with race. I was delighted to see such a diverse crowd, brought together over their shared interest in racial reconciliation.
People continued conversation over a delicious meal and the evening's program began. It commenced with my spiritual father, Bishop Larry Ward, affirming my leadership and introducing me to the crowd. I then shared the vision of RCCI from my heart and invited people to join the growing RCCI community. This was followed by a touching testimony from Kate about how her perspective and behavior has changed through her experience in RCCI's learning community for White evangelicals. The evening concluded with a compelling presentation from Rev. David Wright, Executive Director of the Black Ministerial Alliance, on the connection between racial reconciliation and church revival.
  • "It was wonderful to connect with others who are passionate about racial justice and faith. I enjoyed hearing Rev. David speak truth about the work for justice and holistic reconciliation." - Catherine

  • "Great job Megan and team! We were deeply encouraged by the night!" - Scott

  • "What a great event, a breath of air to keep us hopeful and energized for the work ahead! Definitely an 'Ebenezer' that the Lord has brought us this far!" - Kate
Connect with local resources...

RCCI values learning from the community and collaborating with people doing similar work. We are grateful for the many leaders in racial justice who were present with us in various forms at the launch. Please see below for a list of the local organizations that were represented on the resource table. Click on their names to learn more about them and how they are contributing to God's restorative work.
With Many Thanks!
I thank God for the success we had! It was not because of my own efforts, but because of how God is stirring people for racial reconciliation in Boston and beyond. I believe God wants to see racial healing in our city and he is giving us grace to accomplish his purposes.

I praise God, I acknowledge the community of racial justice advocates who have worked tirelessly past and present, and I thank the incredible community who has spoken into and supported RCCI. I offer special thanks to my team at EGC, my spiritual parents, Bishop Larry and Rev. Dr. Virginia Ward, and my husband Derek Lietz.

As we follow up from the launch and move into the next season of ministry please keep us in your prayers. Thank you again for your support. To God be the glory!
