Brazilian Couple Restores 1,750 acres of Rainforest; Planting Over 2 Million Trees
" Salgado, now 75, remembered the farm he grew up on as a lush and lively sub-tropical rainforest, but the area had suffered from rampant deforestation and uncontrolled exploitation of natural resources.

His wife had the idea to replant the forest.

'It was so natural, instinctive. The land was so degraded, so horrible. What a bad gift! Why not plant?' Lélia told  Smithsonian Magazine  in 2015."

Read about this couple's amazing journey to restore not only their family farm but their goal to restore an additional 17,000 acres across Brazil; the wildlife and flora that have returned and more.

Help with trail corridor maintenance (cutting back the summer’s growth that is now intruding into hiking space), spot maintenance (fixing places where the trail tread has become a little difficult to navigate) and way-finding maintenance (ensuring that our trail blazes and directional signs are visible and in good repair).
