University of Arizona Eller College of Management launches new Professional MBA program in Chandler
The City of Chandler Economic Development Division, in partnership with University of Arizona Eller College of Management announce the new Professional MBA program blending online learning with bi-weekly practicums in Chandler.

Chandler’s business-friendly environment and world-class labor force have made it an attractive location for companies of all sizes and industries. The program encourages the Chandler workforce to explore the intersection of business, technology and their future, creating a stronger workforce for Arizona.

"I am thrilled that Chandler's partnership continues to grow with the University of Arizona with the announcement of this new Professional MBA program," said Mayor Kevin Hartke. "The City is committed to providing our residents with access to higher education opportunities, which not only improves quality of life, but will also add to the number of amenities that make Chandler economically competitive."

“Eller’s new Professional MBA brings the quality and rigor of a premier MBA program with market-driven specializations to a key and growing market in the state of Arizona, giving students a lasting foundation for their careers as well as hands-on learning that will bring value to their organizations,” says Paulo Goes, dean and Halle Chair in Leadership in the Eller College of Management.

The Professional MBA program is well suited for working business professionals with three or more years of experience. The program is 21 months long with two courses online every eight weeks, and in person meeting every other Tuesday from 5:30 – 8 p.m. at the Chandler Community Center, 125 E. Commonwealth Ave., for hands-on practicums. Practicum topics will cover data visualization, artificial intelligence, interpreting data, agile decision-making and more.

The GMAT/GRE has been waived for the fall 2020 admissions requirements.

CVS Health announces 500 new Chandler jobs on Price Corridor
CVS Health has announced a new 101,000 square foot office in Chandler, Ariz. Located at 1255 S. Spectrum Blvd. in the Allred Park Place development, CVS Health will employ approximately 500 workers. Job opportunities include health care advocates, care management nurses, social workers, registered dieticians, behavioral health specialists, and medical directors. Most of these jobs will be new to the region.

CVS Health completed their acquisition of Aetna in November 2018. The new office in Chandler will provide service for the Aetna One Advocate care management program. The other offices that support Aetna One Advocate are in North Carolina and Ohio, with the Chandler office now responsible for a growing base of customers.

The project includes approximately $10 million in new tenant improvements to the building, which was originally built in 2009. The first class of approximately 130 employees has already been hired for this office and are currently working from home due to the coronavirus pandemic. CVS Health is continuing to ramp up hiring in the months ahead with the next training class scheduled for Aug. 3, 2020.

City partners with Chandler IDA to distribute "Choose Chandler" reimbursement grants to small businesses for personal protective equipment
The City of Chandler’s Economic Development Division, in partnership with the Chandler Industrial Development Authority, has initiated a “Choose Chandler” reimbursement grant program to assist small businesses with costs incurred from purchasing personal protective equipment (PPE). 

Qualifying Chandler businesses can apply for a "Choose Chandler" grant in amounts between $100 and $500. The Chandler Industrial Development Authority has made a total of $200,000 available for the program.

To qualify, small businesses must meet the following criteria:
  • Be a private, for-profit business located within Chandler city limits;
  • 100 employees or fewer citywide, including all commonly owned/managed businesses
  • Not affiliated with another business under common ownership/management that has applied for Chandler IDA PPE grant funds
  • Have a start date prior to March 11, 2020, and;
  • Be registered with the City’s Business Registration Program.

Reimbursement opportunities will be available until grant funds are exhausted. Grant requests will be reviewed on a first-come, first-serve basis and only one application will be accepted per business. The “Choose Chandler” grant program will be administered by City staff.

Chandler Hosts Summer Virtual Hiring Event
The City of Chandler is hosting a virtual job fair in collaboration with Arizona@Work, Pipeline AZ, Career Connectors and Best Companies AZ. The job fair kicked off on June 23 and will continue through July 10.

There are 14 companies with a presence in Chandler participating with more than 500 positions available.
