Get Ready for National Summer Learning Week
Led by the National Summer Learning Association (NSLA), National Summer Learning Week is a week-long celebration dedicated to elevating the importance of keeping kids learning, safe, and healthy every summer, ensuring they return to school in the fall ready to succeed. Themes for the week are: Dive into a Book Adventure, Discover STEM and Soar, Arts, Eat Healthy and Grow Strong to Win at Wellness, Celebrate the Future Leaders of Tomorrow and Make a Masterpiece.

Recognizing the Role of Afterschool in Reopening and Rebuilding

The need for safety, support, and trusting reciprocal relationships becomes even more important now as we work to rebuild and return stronger than before COVID-19. A new resource from American Institutes for Research describes the role afterschool and summer programs and systems can play and offers strategies for afterschool and summer programs and school leaders to work together in support of youth, families, and the community.

In the pursuit of equity and inclusion in out-of-school time, it's vital to ensure afterschool professionals are not either intentionally or accidentally perpetuating stereotypes and inequities that hold young people back from being successful. (Re)Opening Guidance for Childcare Providers, Camps, and Schools
In this course we feature detailed guidance and activities Schools, and Child Care providers, can use as you consider your policies and procedures for (Re)Opening. The course also includes the White House Three Phase Approach, OSHA employee health considerations, Decision Tools, Cleaning and Disinfecting, and resource links to CDC Guidance and information.

In Part II of the kid-grit SEL series, continue learning our holistic approach to social emotional learning. They will show you how to use their FREE educator guide - Knowledge is Power - for both online and in-person programming. kid-grit has created 5-10 hour activity guide on mindfulness, body awareness, community and connection, and digital & social media awareness.

The workshop is a great fit for K-16 educators, instructional coaches, and administrators!
Funding Opportunities
Deadline: June 30, 2020
Through the Power of Youth Challenge, teams of at least 3 youth ages 13-18 will receive coaching and support to develop their projects. Every team that signs up will have access to financial support in the form of mini-grants of up to $250.

Deadline: July 10, 2020
The State Department of Health’s Youth and Adolescent Physical Activity (YAPA) grant application for the upcoming fiscal year 2020-2021 is now available for submissions. The YAPA grant is focused on providing physical activity opportunities for youth and adolescents, 6-17 years of age (K-12) in the classroom, school, and before or after school program settings. We will consider ideas that will best fit your community or organization to successfully improve the overall health of youth and adolescents. Some examples would be: utilizing funds for professional development for staff, creating and implementing a sustainable physical activity program, or improving an existing program.

The Kiwanis Foundation of Indianapolis provides annual grants in the amount of up to $2,500 for programs that serve children and youth in the City of Indianapolis that are designed to improve the quality of life directly through activities promoting health, education, etc. and through programs that encourage leadership and service among youth.
