From the Desk of Ellen Knippel, Principal

Dear Parents,
What an amazing way to begin the new school year!! Last week's Mass, celebrated with Fr. Tony, was a wonderful way to kick off our school year! We are changing our "attitude" because the "Future's so bright, I've got to wear shades!" The sunglasses given to the students were a huge hit and the covenant (iPromise) statements the classes are developing are fabulous! I will be sharing these with you are they are completed! Thank you Angie Flanagan for designing our beautiful Mission Shirts!

On Sunday we had our Back to School picnic. A great time was had by all! From the Balloon Man to the Sno Cone maker to the dunk tank (and, yes, I went in too!) to the delicious food - everything was a success! Special thanks to Susan Goggins, Flo Prospero, Melissa Bodden for the amazing planning and preparation. In addition, thanks to all the set up people, food servers, and  clean up crew! All these hands made the event run smoothly! Finally, Parents, thanks for bringing your children out on this warm Sunday afternoon! The spirit among the families was wonderful and we are already looking forward to next year's event!

I look forward to seeing everyone on Thursday Evening for Orientation night. Please see the details and times below. If there are any question please don't hesitate to call the office.

Blessings,
Ellen Knippel

Parent Night, Thursday August 30th
The Parent Night this Thursday is a required meeting for all school families.  One parent should plan on attending.
5:30pm: 3K-5th Grade Classroom Orientation
3K-5th grade parents, attend ONE presentation per child (5:30, 5:45, or 6:00) in your child's classroom (If you only have one child in these grades you can attend the 6:00 session then the general session. You do NOT need to come at 5:30.)
6:15pm: General Meeting for ALL FAMILIES in the PLC (school cafeteria)
Younger grade families may leave after this session. Families with only middle school students can arrive at 6:15 for general session.
7:00pm: Middle School Meetings
Middle school teachers will present information on their subject areas in their individual classrooms. You may attend 3 presentations on different subject areas or meet with your child's homeroom teacher. (7:00, 7:15, 7:30).

This is an "adults only" evening, offering teachers an opportunity to share classroom  expectations and guidelines.

ALL New and 5+ Year Volunteers
Adults volunteering in any capacity with children 17 and under are required by the Archdiocese of Milwaukee to take this training. This includes coaches, field trip chaperones, classroom volunteers, etc!  The class can be taken at any parish (keep certificate!) and only needs to be taken once. The requirement also includes a background check which needs to be updated every 5 years. Contact Brooke and she will email you instructions  for those who have never completed any safe environment requirements or instructions for those who need to update their background check.

Calendar Raffle, Now-September 30th
IT'S BACK!!!! Grades 5-8 are selling Calendar Raffles to earn money for their 8th grade Washington D.C. trip.  (For those in 5th-8th grade that missed picking up their Calendar Raffles at orientation, please pick them up in the school office).  The cost is $20/Raffle  and the purchaser could win $25 - $500 during the course of a year - that's 365 chances to win! Calendar raffles will be sold after Mass September 8-9, 15-16 or 22-23. Gr 5-8 look for the Sign-up Genius as we will allow 3 families at a time to sell. If you miss us at Mass, either find a 5th-8th grade student, or stop in the school office to buy one. It is very important that we sell all of the Raffles and we encourage families to support our older students by purchasing one or more!  Questions?  Email Cheryl.

Support our fellow student Brady!

Brady was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) on April 19th, 2018.  It's definitely not the diagnosis you want to hear for your 13 year old son. Please help us raise funds to find a cure!!!

Our team, "Brady Bunch", is walking on September 15th, to end type 1 diabetes (T1D).

Type 1 diabetes is a serious autoimmune disease that is unrelated to diet and lifestyle. Children and adults with T1D must constantly monitor their blood-sugar levels and manage them with insulin therapy. Even with the best care, it is very hard to stay in a safe range, and that can lead to scary complications like kidney disease or vision problems.  There is no way to prevent T1D and there is no cure.

That's why we're raising money to help JDRF support the most promising, cutting-edge science to create a world without T1D.

Help us reach our goal!! Click here to walk with us:  Team Brady Bunch
Be sure it is the Brady Bunch with Katie Oberfoell as captain! (not Brady's Bunch)
