Recognized Recreational Professional
We are proud to announce that our Community Consultant, Crystal Longman, was one of the seven Recreational Professionals to be recognized by the Saskatchewan Association of Recreational Professionals (SARP) during 2020 Recreational Professionals Week. Crystal has been heavily involved in her community and the recreation profession for the past 15 years.

Crystal believes “Recreation is vital because it adds to one’s quality of life. It encourages healthy living and provides a sense of belonging and community. After months of social distancing and the cancellation of many events this year, I know I have missed/am missing/and will miss my favorite activities like attending sport events and powwows. Recreation is such a large part of our social lives. While I appreciated being able to go out and do things before, I don’t think I understood how important it was to my overall well-being until I was housebound and couldn’t do anything. I imagine this awareness is similar to many Saskatchewan residents.”

With the Re-Open Saskatchewan plan underway, now is the time for museums to plan the next steps in order to re-open to the public and maintain a safe and healthy environment for staff, volunteers, and visitors. Considerations When Re-Opening Museums  endeavors to outline in board terms the four stages of re-opening museums to the public and encouraging museums to think through what each step will mean for them. If you have any questions, please contact Sarah Durham, Museums Advisor at  advisor@saskmuseums.org . You can download the Considerations When Re-Opening Museums guide by clicking here.
