Senior Parent Night: A Guide to College Admissions
Tonight at 6:30 pm
'The Guide to College Admissions' provides an overview of the college application process to senior year parents.  This presentation will highlight the various components that make up a college application along with different application deadlines and application platforms. The Cambridge process to request transcripts and letters of recommendation will be covered as well as an overview of the HOPE scholarship. 

Seniors are encouraged to attend the same presentation on Tuesday, August 28, during their lunch period, in the auditorium.

Parchment: How to Request a Transcript at Cambridge
Friday, August 31
This brief 15-minute presentation is open to both students and parents and will provide instruction on how to set up and utilize your Parchment account.  Parchment is the online platform that provides families with both official and unofficial high school transcripts.  Parchment can send a transcript to your email address, home mailing address, insurance company, college/university, and scholarship organization, for example. 

Students are encouraged to bring their Surface device or laptop so that they may set up their accounts following the presentation with assistance from Counseling.

SAT School Day
Registration due September 4
Would you like to be able to take the SAT on a school day at your school?  Cambridge High School will administer the SAT for 12 th grade students on Wednesday, October 10 th .

Benefits of SAT School Day at Cambridge High School:
  • Convenience. Students don't have to worry about locating or getting to the testing site. School day testing won't disrupt weekend plans, jobs, or family time.
  • Comfort. Students test in a familiar surrounding with people they know.
  • Cost. The cost of registration is covered by Fulton County Schools. Students have free access to a globally recognized college admission test that is accepted at all U.S. colleges.

9th Grade CLAWS Tailgate

Looking for a Volunteer Opportunity?
Saturday, September 8
Youth United invites any and all teens to join us for a morning of impact at our annual Kickoff! We will be packing meals for children in need; and doing a discussion based "Civic Breakfast". United Way provides light bites for breakfast , pizza for lunch, snacks, a DJ, and prizes (to make volunteering FUN!).

Change to Fulton County Schools Calendar
November 6 and March 8
During the August 16 Board meeting, a revision to this year's Fulton County school calendar was made. Here is a link to the Board item. 
  • Change Tuesday, November 6, 2018, to a Teacher Work Day. This is currently a regular school day.
     
  • Change Friday, March 8, 2019, to a regular school day. This is currently a Teacher Work Day. This revision will not change the total number of instruction days for students.

The kick off for the 50th Annual National PTA Reflections Art Competition is here! You may enter in any or all of these categories:

Visual Art, Photography, Literature, Film Production, Musical Composition, or Dance Choreography.

Multiple entries are welcome! Just complete a separate form for each entry. This year's th eme is " Heroes Around Me." 
Entry forms are available in the Media Center. Winners at Cambridge will advance to the Council for judging and could end up in the finals at National PTA. So get your art on and have fun!

Code of Conduct

This year we will continue to utilize the electronic delivery of our 2018-2019 Student Code of Conduct & Discipline Handbook to families who have an email address on file with their school.  This electronic delivery process involves you completing two simple steps 1) Reviewing the Student Code of Conduct and 2) Completing and submitting the Acknowledgement of Electronic Receipt.  Here is how you complete these two steps:

  1. Please review and save the updated 2018-2019 Student Code of Conduct & Discipline Handbook at http://www.fultonschools.org/en/divisions/acd/supportserv/Pages/StudentDiscipline.aspx
  2. Please click the link below to review and submit the required Acknowledgement of Electronic Receipt Form.  After review of the Acknowledgement of Electronic Receipt, please complete the electronic form and submit it.

It is important that you review and discuss the content Code of Conduct with your child(ren).  Teachers will also review the Code of Conduct with students at the beginning of the school year. 

 

Driver's License Denial

The  Teenage and Adult Driver Responsibility Act requires that a driver's license shall not be issued or shall be revoked for a period of one year if a student is 15-18 years old and has:

  1. Dropped out of school and remained out of school for ten consecutive days;
  2. Accumulated ten or more unexcused absences during the current academic year;
  3. Accumulated ten or more unexcused absences during the previous academic year; or
  4. Has been found guilty by a disciplinary tribunal of committing one or more of the offenses listed as violations of the Teenage and Adult Driver Responsibility Act (See Code of Conduct for list).
  As the school and as parents, we both want our children to be ready for graduation and a career.  On time, daily attendance is an early marker to those successes.  Thank you for your assistance in getting your child to school every day.

Personal Fitness Exemptions
New Form
Please know that an updated Personal Fitness Exemption form is now available and can be found below and in the Counseling Office. The old form will no longer be accepted. Personal Fitness Exemption forms can only be accepted during the last seven days of each semester, and you must complete an exemption form by the last day of your junior year to be eligible for the exemption as a senior. For more information regarding the Personal Fitness Exemption, see the form below.

Interest meeting August 28
All athletes interested in joining the swim and dive team for the upcoming season should plan to attend an informational meeting on August 28th in the cafeteria at 6:00 PM.
