A Message from the Superintendent
I hope your first week of school has been great. From my office, this has been the smoothest start of a school year to date. While there are always some bumps at the beginning of school, you have been very helpful to keep your kids and us on track. I know that all of our campuses are more than willing to assist you as needed, but as an additional resource, you are welcome to call or text me on my cell phone: 972-415-8129. If you text me, please include your name so that I will know with whom I am responding. Finally, I am increasing my presence on Twitter; please follow me @TEDRedBuilding to receive:

Keeping Your Kids Safe

As you know, our Board of Trustees has set a new Board Priority which directs the administration to:

“Strengthen the program for safety and security that serves as the model for K-12 by enhancing safety and protecting the positive learning environment by ensuring the personal/social needs of Lovejoy students are met”.

To that end, the district has placed an officer on each of our six campuses as well as hired a Director of Safety and Security with an impressive resume including both military and law enforcement experience. Our campuses are covered by either:

School Resource Officers (SRO), which the district contracts with the Town of Fairview to provide, or

Lovejoy ISD Campus Security Officers who are trained and licensed by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) as School Marshals. The district has three of these trained professionals on staff.

In addition, the district has taken several steps to tighten access to all campuses. We have implemented some measures that will remain confidential as we would not want to advertise our points of strength, which conversely might also identify any potential soft spots as entry points to our campuses.

Finally, we know that rapid response to any emergency including medical needs is of the utmost importance. To that end, we are employing a technology from Enseo, which will result in employees having a Personal Location Device (PLD) attached to their name badge. When an employee presses the button for 3 seconds, a message is sent to the Campus Security Officers as well as the administration team. The message will show the teacher’s name and the room number of their location. Click here to view a video outlining how the system works. Circle of Partners
A New Opportunity for Partnership

As you know, our booster clubs will often hold fundraisers such as Chick-fil-A Night. The boosters and our district will announce these nights and the restaurant will commit a certain percentage of sales back to the booster club.

We have discovered that some REALTORS in the area also have a charitable contribution program. These programs typically pledge to their clients that they will give a percentage of their gross commission back to a charity of the client’s choice. If a REALTOR chooses this charitable give back option and Lovejoy ISD is selected as a recipient, then we will use our district communication channels to let you know which REALTORS are offering a charitable program benefitting Lovejoy ISD. In a recent meeting, a REALTOR shared that home values within Lovejoy ISD are often 15%-30% higher than comparable homes outside of the Lovejoy school boundaries. We sent out a letter to members of our REALTOR community last week. You may click here to read the correspondence.

If you would like to join the Circle of Partners, please send the link to your Real Estate Website that documents your charitable contribution program at the 10% level or more, and we will include your information in our communication.

Increased Safety and Security
Visitors and Volunteers to Provide
ID at All Campuses
One of the numerous safety and security measures implemented for the 2018-2019 school year includes a new system for check-in at all campuses and the administration building. The new system is called Raptor and requires any individual visiting or volunteering in Lovejoy ISD to provide a valid ID (i.e., Texas Driver’s License) each time they check in. On your first visit, the receptionist will scan your ID, creating a profile in Raptor. On subsequent visits, individuals may scan their ID. In both cases a nametag will be printed. To sign out the barcode on your nametag will be scanned. Additionally, a valid ID will be required to check students out of school.
Volunteers
Thank you to all of our parents who give so generously of their time to serve as volunteers in our schools.

For the safety of our students, a criminal history record is obtained annually for every person interested in volunteering at a LISD campus. Upon completion of the background check, applicants will be notified of approval to volunteer.

Please  click here   to access the Online Volunteer Application. The online application is a secure link.

All information regarding volunteer applications received for the 2017-2018 school year has been deleted. If you submitted an application prior to August 2018, it will be necessary to complete another application.
