WFPC Officers' Column
" You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God."- II Corinthians 9:11 (NIV)

Fall - a season of change! Leaves change beautifully: red, orange, yellow; Seasons change brutally: warm, cool, cold. The fact is, change happens! Sometimes it's beautiful, and sometimes it's brutal. A lot of that though depends on our perspective. The beautiful changes of leaves are because they are in the process of dying. Yet those brutal changes of seasons, well, they are really about a new beginning. So, how do you perceive change?

" The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new." ~ Socrates

Fall - a season of generosity! Without your generosity we wouldn't be the church we are right now... We are changing by leaps and bounds! You can see it, you can hear it, but mostly you can feel it... and it's beautiful! WFPC is in the middle of Generosity Season. You should be receiving emails telling of how our church and our members have shown generosity to others. There are so many inspirational stories that have been shared, and it is amazing! What's your story?

" No one has ever become poor by giving." ~ Anne Frank

Fall - a season of thankfulness! Thanksgiving is just around the corner... a time of gratitude. A reminder for all of us to be thankful for ALL that we have... because even with our troubles, our blessings are always more. Speaking of being thankful, October is Pastor Appreciation Month. Let's all take a minute to write a note of thanks to Pastor Rebekah and Pastor John. There will be baskets on the desk in the narthex, as well as in the CLC, to collect the notes and cards. While you are at it, drop a note to our staff members as well. They are the best! You may not see them like you do Rebekah and John, but believe me, they are working very hard to keep things running smoothly here at the church. Let's show them some love too, because they are AWESOME! Speaking of staff, we just added two new members: Kais Fornoni is our new Audio/Media Coordinator, and Dana Wills is our new Director of Food Ministry. Be sure to say hi and welcome them to their new positions.

" Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it." ~ William Arthur Ward

Fall - our season! WFPC is changing, and it is beautiful! Our members are outstanding and overflowing with generosity! We see it everywhere... in the offerings, in the talents of so many, and in the many missions and outreach projects that extend into our community, and out to our world... and we are so very thankful!  We have two pastors who live and love their calling daily by providing each of us a wonderful relationship with God; and we have an amazing staff who work so diligently and lovingly to provide all that we need so we can be the awesome church that we are!

Change is beautiful, it leads to generosity. Generosity is great, it leads to thankfulness. Thankfulness is awesome, it leads to change! Change is beautiful!

" When we give cheerfully and accept gratefully, everyone is blessed." ~ Maya Angelou

Prayer
Lord -- In this season, we thank you. For changes, because they often open our eyes to things we have overlooked or taken for granted. For generosity, because without your forgiveness we would be so much worse than we already are. For thankfulness, because our blessings do indeed outnumber our problems... always and forever... and it is beautiful. Amen.

Commitment Sunday -- November 3
Pledge cards have been sent to members and friends via email, with an inspiring letter from Marty Wakefield, Chair of the Generosity Ministry Team. So, check your email and prayerfully consider how God is calling you to pledge/tithe toward the challenge ministry budget of $975,000 for 2020 (a 4% increase of the current year's budget). Together, with the power of Christ at work among us, we are able to accomplish abundantly far more than all we can ask or imagine (Eph. 3:20-21b). If you are unable to be with us next Sunday, please mail your card in. Additional pledge/tithe cards can be found in the lobby area of both buildings.
New Remittance Address
Please note that we have changed our remit address. We now have a locked box in a mailing facility across the street for better security. Please use this address when mailing checks or sensitive information:

October is Pastor Appreciation Month!
There are note cards in the narthex and near the entry of the CLC. We are asking everyone to take a couple minutes and write notes to Pastor Rebekah and Pastor John to thank them for everything they do for our church family at WFPC. You can drop your card in the baskets provided.
Advent Festival
November 20, 5:30-7:30
Come one, come all to ring in the Advent Season! We will gather in the CLC for a dinner of soup and sandwiches, hear a story of gratitude and giving presented by our children, and then spend some good old-fashioned fellowship time together! Our craft tables this year include a bow-making station, live Advent wreath making, calligraphy tutorials, Moravian star demonstrations and much more!  There's something for everyone of every age and stage, so mark your calendars and get ready for fun!!
Thank you from WFPC Youth
Thank you so much for your support of our youth and the Holy Hay Day event last Sunday. It was a wonderful afternoon for everyone! Due to your generosity, we raised $3,800 ($2,000 more than we raised last year) to help fund youth mission trips and faith formation retreats. We appreciate you so much and look forward to sharing our trip experiences with you next summer. Thanks again for your help!

Ladies, join us to enjoy food, fellowship and a movie as we watch War Room (a couple with great jobs, a beautiful daughter (Alena  Pitts) and a dream house, the Jordans seem to have it all.  Appearances can be deceiving however, as husband Tony (TC Stallings) flirts with temptation...). We will gather at 6:30 for a social time and start our movie at approximately 7:15. Please bring an appetizer, your favorite beverage, and a friend to Diane Terrell's home. dianegterrell@gmail.com

Mission and Outreach
M2M Veteran's Day Food Drive: November 9, 9:30-4:30
Lowes Foods, across from our church on Capital Boulevard, graciously allows our Mission2Military volunteers to hold two food drives a year, one for Memorial Day and one for Veterans Day. The drives support both our ministry of shipping care packages to our armed forces currently serving overseas and our ministry to the Durham VA Volunteer Food Pantry which reaches out to local veterans who served our country and are now in need. Our volunteers will be on hand to greet you and thank you. And, if you have served in the armed forces, Ricky Edwards, the manager at Lowes Foods wants to have his picture taken with you. He offers us this twice-yearly ministry opportunity to honor his father who served in the Marines.

Prayers for the Adult Mission Trip
Our team will depart Sunday for Wilmington. Please keep them in your prayers as they work with Habitat on storm recovery. Our team consists of: Jim Crawford, Judy Finch Ide, Trish Floyd, Robin Hendricks, Sharon Lineberry, Randy Parrish, Ginny Poulsen, Ed Pulliam, Larry Roper, Robin Roper, Mark Schulze, Pam Schulze, Si Seiler, Paul Swartz, Hugh Terrell, and Marty Wakefield.

WFPC Community Garden Workday: October 26, 8 am
"For everything there is a season..." and it's time to 'pluck' our last tomatoes for 2019!  We plan to harvest all of them Saturday starting at 8 am, sort into trays by color, store to ripen if needed, and continue to distribute locally into November -- amazing! It will be a great morning to bring little ones to the garden -- they can pick every tomato they can find -- consider bringing a little container like a sand bucket or a small Easter basket that's easy for them to carry.

Habitat for Humanity
Work is progressing nicely on our Habitat home! To volunteer at this building site at 212 Caddel Street in Wake Forest, please go to habitatwake.volunteerhub.com
