First Town Led Agri-Tourism Event: Field to Table
The Economic Development and Tourism Office, in partnership with 11 farms, coordinated the first "Field to Table" event on
Saturday August 18, 2018. Hundreds of residents and tourists participated in this one day self-guided tour through Georgina's
rural landscape.
Seven farm locations where open to visitors from 10 am to 3 pm and provided tours, workshops and
samples of local goods and produce. "It was a lovely day, thanks so much! I learned about small, local farming and all the
care that goes into it!" said Elizabeth from Toronto. "We thoroughly enjoyed finding some new local goods available in our
area, which we will definitely be visiting again soon! Thanks for the organization that went into this. It was a great day!" said
Maxine from Keswick. Residents, farm owners and visitors provided a lot of positive feedback and are looking
forward to the event next year.

ClearWater Farm is hosting the Timber Framers Guild to rebuild the barn that accidentally burnt down on the Lake Drive East property in 2016. There is a new place for residents and tourist to relax in the Jackson's Point BIA while they enjoy shopping or one of the many events held in the historic downtown area.
The Jackson's Point BIA applied for a Community Betterment grant from the Economic Development Committee to help pay for a portion of a new bench for their downtown area this past spring. The grant was approved and the bench was installed by the Town of Georgina this August.
The bench is located across the street from the Jackson's Point Parkette on the northeast corner of Lake Drive E and Jackson's Point Avenue featuring a plaque honouring it's contribution from both the Jackson's Point BIA and Town of Georgina.

BUSINESS & MARKETING TIPS
|
The numbers vary, but the trend is unmistakable. The average consumer is subjected to more marketing messages every day. In a world where it's harder to get noticed marketers have responded by trying to be more visible. Being noticed is the goal of most marketing.
The irony is five seconds in the spotlight doesn't make or break a career or a company. It's the five years of work that preceded those five seconds that make all the difference.
Our goal isn't simply to been seen and heard-it is to do work that's worthy of being seen and heard.
