2021 Regional Location

The region is planning ahead for the 2021 regional awards banquet. The clubs in the Atlanta area have graciously agreed to host the show and event in Atlanta, GA on our traditional date of June 12-13. Location and hotel is still being worked on, but things are underway. Many thanks to the clubs and people involved for volunteering to host this important event.

2020 Regional

A reminder that our upcoming regional show and event will be held in Jacksonville, FL the weekend of June 13-14. Plans are already well underway, so do mark your calendars!

Clerking School

There will be a clerking school in conjunction with the Star City/Central Carolina Cat Fanciers' show in Roanoke, VA on Friday, January 24, 2020. The instructor will be Teresa Keiger. Our region need some more clerks, and attendance at a clerking school is a requirement for becoming licensed. More details to come.

Darlene Sweeney

Darlene Sweeney passed away July 22 after a courageous battle with metastic/bone cancer. Darlene was a long time beloved member of the Cotton States Cat Club. She retired in 2017 after 25 years of breeding Maine Coons (cattery Mainecat) shown in both CFA and TICA. In CFA she produced 35 Grands, 7 regional winners, and 2 DMs; in TICA she had one Outstanding Dam. Cotton States will have a ring dedicated to her memory at their upcoming show.

It was great to see so many Southern Region faces in the show hall, and they were everywhere - behind the judging rings, behind the scenes, and of course showing their cats to perfection.

Karen Lane and Donna Trussler welcomed every single spectator who walked through the door, handing them the Ambassador Cats calendar and coloring book. Jacqui Bennett and Teresa Keiger were presenting our CFA breeds in the Education Ring. Jo Ann Miksa-Blackwell was all over the show hall with Rich Nolte and a videographer shooting footage for later use. Cheryl Coleman spent most of the show tucked away behind the curtains as one of the show's two master clerks.  Kathy Rutledge was busy clerking for Kathy Black, and Krista Schmitt was one of Kenny Currle's clerks. In addition to Kenny, judges from the Southern Region were Marilee Griswold and Melanie Morgan. Linda Peterson, Mary Kolencik, and David Raynor did the benching for the show
