Lunch Accounts
The Lunchtime link is now available for you to deposit lunch money into your student's account.

Our Lunchtime Point of Sale purchasing system for student lunches is connected directly to the Vision online parent portal (formerly MMS) accessible through the York Catholic website. Parents simply log in to the Vision parent portal, choose "More" in the upper right corner, select "Fees," and click "Make Cafeteria Deposit."  As parents, you will be able to view what your student is purchasing in the cafeteria and the remaining balance in the account.  To ensure we are using this system to its potential, everyone is required to use their Lunchtime account log in to pay for his or her lunch meals. The following policies are in place regarding Lunchtime Accounts and Balances. We encourage parents to sign up for email notification when their Lunchtime account balances are getting low.
  • Checks and/or cash are not accepted in the cafeteria for food purchases during lunch periods. It is the responsibility of the student to submit a check (not cash) in a sealed envelope (clearly labeled with his/her name, grade, and student ID number) and place it in the Lunchtime box located in the cafeteria for the student's account to be credited. The minimum check amount is $10. Funds may not be available for 24 hours.
  • It is the student and parent's responsibility to monitor the Lunchtime account online for balance information and retain a positive balance at all times.
  • If a student has a lunchtime balance at $0.00 or below, they will only have the option to purchase a lunch consisting of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, fruit, and drink (1% white milk, iced tea, or orange drink) for $3.00.
  • No refunds will be given during the school year. Seniors will be issued a refund on accounts with a balance of $5 or more after graduation unless they have a sibling enrolled at YC in which case the balance will be transferred to the sibling for the next school year. All underclassmen accounts will roll-over to the next school year.
  • Report cards and Vision access will be held at the end of each quarter if Lunchtime balances are not current.
If you need assistance accessing your Vision account, please contact Deb Gingerich at  [email protected]  or 717-846-8871 x219.
Summer Assignments
Assignments are due this Monday, August 27.

Reading
York Catholic High School views the development of life-long habits of reading as a hallmark of an educated man or woman, and it encourages each student to read widely throughout the year.  The school also recognizes the value of other on-going academic engagement during the summer months.  Summer reading and other intellectual activities serve to stimulate, to enrich, and to reinforce academic skills during the summer hiatus.  Each current student has received a packet with the assignments for summer reading.  The assignments are also available on the home page of the YC website at yorkcatholic.org in the Announcements section, titled, "Summer Assignments," and on the Forms & Documents page.  Each grade level's requirements are clearly explained and testing and/or projects are due at the start of the 2018-19 school year. Click  here for the list of books for the summer reading projects.  PLEASE NOTE:  There has been a change to the assignments for Incoming 10th Grade Honors and CP/Level II.   It has come to our attention that the summer reading selection of The Coming of the Dragon is out of print. We apologize for any confusion and concern this may have caused. Please disregard any summer reading assignment your child may have received in his or her English class.  We have replaced this selection with Matthew Harffy's Kin of Cain: A Short Bernicia Tale.  The new assignments have been updated on the website.

Math
Keeping students' math skills strong during the summer months helps to avoid the "summer slide" and aids in less review time when school resumes. Students should complete their Summer Math Assignments and return them by August 27.  The assignments are available on the home page of the YC website at yorkcatholic.org   in the Announcements section, titled, "Summer Assignments," and on the Forms & Documents page.
Gym Uniforms

Gym uniforms are now available for purchase through the online YC Spirit Store and will no longer be sold during gym classes. The Spirit Store can be accessed from the front page of the YC website or by clicking here and scrolling to the bottom of the page for the items titled "Phys Ed."
Breakfast for New Senior High Students
All new senior high students are invited to the New Student Breakfast hosted by Alpha on Wednesday, August 29, from 7:45-8:15 AM in the Career Room. This helps with the transition to a new school and gives our new students some contacts for information and friendships. All new senior high students are encouraged to attend.
Junior High Tailgate
The 7th & 8th Grade students are invited to the Junior High Tailgate on Friday, September 14, from 5-6:45 PM on the front lawn.  Pizza, party subs, water, and paper products will be provided. Please bring a covered dish to share.  Parents and siblings are encouraged to attend. There is no charge for the Tailgate.  Please sign-up your family by September 10 by clicking here or by contacting Rachel Shanko at [email protected]  or 717-846-8871 x344 -OR-
Brian Gilbert at [email protected]  or  717-846-8871 x316 .

After the tailgate, families can cheer the Irish football team on to victory vs. Littlestown. Kickoff is 7 PM. Cost for the game is $5 for adults and $3 for students.
Color Run
The Senior High Student Council is sponsoring a 3K Color Run on Saturday, September 8, at 9 AM. A color run features a 3K course around the York Catholic campus where runners/walkers will go through clouds of colored powder to "decorate" their clothing. Hint: It's best to wear white!

Click here for the registration form.  The registration form and $15 fee are due August 30. On-site registration is available at 8 AM the day of the event, but a race t-shirt will not be included. All proceeds from this event will benefit York Catholic's Mini-THON and the Four Diamonds fight against pediatric cancer.

For more information, contact Mrs. Megan Wertz, Student Council Moderator, at [email protected].
Formal Dress Drive
The Senior High Student Council is sponsoring a YC Formal Dress Drive. YC students and alumni are encouraged to donate new or gently used school appropriate formal/semi-formal dresses August 20-29 from 8 AM-3:15 PM in the main office.

All donated dresses will be displayed for York Catholic students only on Thursday, August 30, from 6-8 PM at YC. Senior High students in need of a Homecoming or Prom dress are welcome to come and select a dress at this time. All dresses will be $25 and the proceeds will go towards York Catholic's Mini-THON and the Four Diamonds fight against pediatric cancer.

For more information, contact Mrs. Megan Wertz, Student Council Moderator, at [email protected].
Meet the Teams - Fall Sports

Parents and fans are invited to raise the Irish spirit and meet the athletes who will be representing York Catholic on the court, on the course, and on the playing field this fall. Meet the Teams Night will be held Monday, August 27 , at 7 PM at the football stadium. Come out and cheer on our teams!
Athletic Association
All parents of York Catholic student-athletes are members of the YC Athletic Association. Members work to raise needed funds for the YC athletic programs and serve as volunteers in various capacities at sporting events.  All levels of involvement are needed for the 2018-19 school year.  Please contact President Steve Lesher at [email protected]
to let him know your area of interest.  Please plan on attending the Athletic Association meeting Tuesday, August 28, at 6:30 PM at YC.
"God, Country, & Notre Dame"
The Notre Dame Club of Harrisburg presents "God, Country, and Notre Dame" on Wednesday, August 29, at 7 PM at York Catholic High School. Brian S. Collier, Ph.D., University of Notre Dame Graduate Faculty member, will present a humor-filled, historical, familiar, and engaging lecture that tells the history of our country in just under an hour through the lens of Notre Dame's place in the United States. If you think you know everything about Notre Dame, come and learn more reasons to love it, some reasons to challenge it, and lots of reasons to continue to support the home of the original Fighting Irish. Admission is free.  Click here for more information.
